Chances are high that it'll work since MorphOS 3.5, but you have to get another gfxcard, since the default Geforce FX 5200 isn't supported by MorphOS.

It could be a 7.2, which is now supported by MorphOS 3.5. But the only way to know for sure is to ask the seller. Too bad the bidding has stopped. It was cheap enough to just go for broke :-)

Once you add shipping and the cost of a supported GFX-card it's not really cheap compared to some locally found ready-2-run versions.

Either that or the market in the UK is completly different to what is offered around here.

They are surprisingly expensive compared to the Powermac G5. I think that the tiny price difference doesn't justify it. Try to get a Powermac G5 2 GHz with a Radeon card. They are fairly easy to find on E-bay and not all that expensive.

thanks, i already have a powermac G5 sitting beside my tv but it is 2Ghz "dual" and it has a Nvidia card so i dont fancy having 2 off these beasts beside my tv, where as the mac mini could just sit on top of the G5

Then how about just buying a Radeon card and use that one? A 9600 XT 128 MB VRAM doesn't cost much. You can also dual boot it if you need to.

    Hi Yasu

The G5 that i currentley have is this, is this supported?

    Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0GHz
128mb Nvidia 6600 (which i know is no good)
    Model #: A1177
    emc number 2023
    Sales Number: M9590LL/A
    Production Date: Late 2005

I think i only have 3 PCIe slots as well and i thought MorphOS only uses AGP?

A 1.5GHz "silent-upgrade" model will be the highest spec, as well as the newest, but don't buy unless the seller includes screengrabs from System Profiler. I bought a Mini that was listed as a 10,2 but turned out to be a 10,1. Don't buy from this seller, he's a pain to get a refund from.

I had a mini with a 1.5Ghz G4 in it, and honestly, I didn't feel the experience was that much better than with my eMac. The extra RAM was certainly nice, but I found the DVD-Rom to be a little flaky as were the USB ports.
Granted it ain't half the nightmare that the Efika is, but still I was not satisfied and felt like I needed a unit with slots for cards and the whole nine yards. With USB I could not use USB sound card or MIDI adapters so again with the mini my system felt really confined. Then again I don't know what your uses are so you may not need a MorphOS system that comes with all the ports that are better supported.

This isn't a problem of the Mac mini or other hardware but that of MorphOS' pciusb.device.

Here is one, although you need to change the GFX card, which is easy enough.
