scanners on mac g5 and usb issues also

    I am using two identical systems, one a powerbook g4 and the other a mac g5 2.3ghz.
    Same software installed by Grunch.

    The scanner I am using is a Epson Perfection 1640su , the same scanner the author of SCANdal uses.
    It all works in on the G4.
    The G5 locks up.
    I cannot open Poseidon with it plugged in.
    I cannot launch anything out of the control panel after clicking on USB.
    I have to reboot.
    This scanner gives no issues on a G4 setup.

    I am guessing it is something to do with the power being drained.
    The scanner, obviously , has its own power source.
    Exact same driver and OS on both machines.
    Sometimes I can get poseidon up and it shows the scanner but this is rare.
    I experience lockups mostly.

    p.s. Tried all of the ports on the G5.
    No luck.

    Powerbook G4 just did the same thing.
    I have tried a different cable.
    G4 looks ok, not sure. It is working.
    G5 still locking up with a different cable.

    The G4 is having lockups but will ,after a reboot ,scan.
    The last message from poseidon before locking up on the G4 is 'Warning cdcacm.class Unable to load the modeswitch data file..."

    BTW: Even though poseidon is locked up I can still launch SCANdal on the G4 and scan a color document.
    Very odd.
    Did Poseidon have any changes for mos 3.2?

    Sorry, i'm in the hospital now without any morphos machine. I should leave within 1.5week and i'll look into g5 pproblem . I can suggest deleting posidkn prefs in case of any odd situations.

    I have a NEC 5 port usb pci card from my old quicksilver.
    Can I plug that into my mac g5 2.3ghz dp system?
    The slots are 64bit.
    According to wiki pci-x is backwards compatible with 32bit cards.
