Hi I have recently purchased a PowerMac G5, PowerMac7,3 and I am hoping to get it working for Vintage Computer Fair GB.

I have been trying to boot from Morphos Cd from a freshly burnt CD. It reads fine when inserted and appears in the startup menu when I press ALT during startup.

The Issue is when I try to boot from cd the screen go's gray and the fans start speeding up a lot and it just hangs.

I have tried to get it working doing the following:
-Replacing the DVD with one I know works well
-Burning Cds to different formats to see if they work
-Tired to boot of USB but that was a headache as the USB disk was not showing up -on the open firmware
-Tried formatting a partition so I can boot from it
-Pram reset
-Firmware updates (all up to date)
Any advice you can offer or tips for getting this running as I have not run into this issue with MacMini or PowerMac G4. I also checked the Model numbers to check I had the correct model which I do.

Thanks for asking. I just check and it is indeed geoforge. I have just ordered a radeon from ebay :D and with delivery time it should arrive a day before the show.

I didn't even bother trying to install from CD on my G5 as I'd read a few complaints from others.

Your best bet is to persevere with installing from USB.

I think my G5 works just fine. But maybe a dual boot is an attractive solution as well.

So does mine but I have no idea if it boots from CD or not as I didn't try. Installation from USB went smoothly once I guessed the correct port number in OF.

Ok, I misunderstood what you meant. I did it from CD without problems. Just following the written instructions.
