Keymap/OWB confusion

    I'm having a little difficulty with an external USB keyboard (Cherry Smartboard XX44).

    On my Powerbook (RIP, died during a case transplant) the F11 key would fake-fullscreen OWB, but on the Cherry keyboard it does nothing.
    USB prefs indicate that F11 is mapped to 0x4b (unprintable)
    I can't check what it was on the Powerbook, but MS keymaps would suggest F11 should be 0x7A.
    0x7A is, on MorphOS, used for 'mouse wheel up'.

    So now I'm a little confused.

    Shouldn't MS and MorphOS keymaps be more-or-less identical, except where adapted for extra characters/Help keys?
    What should F11 be mapped to, and/or how do I get F11 to make OWB go fullscreen again?

    Thanks for any guidance :-)

    And now I'm a little more confused... it seems shift+F11 works for fullscreen on this keyboard.

    Did Fab change the keybaord shortcut at some point?

    No, i didn't. It's F11, and it works on the peg2, mac mini, powermac g5 and powerbook with their respective keyboards. ;)

    Thanks Fab,

    Just been checking my iControl and Ambient keyboard shortcuts to see if I might have re-used plain F11 somewhere, but no.

    I can live with it, it just seems weird given that the plain (without shift) F11 keypress registers fine when tracking incoming events in Poseidon HID settings for the keyboard.

    btw - I only discovered recently that drag'n'drop in OWB supports dragging pictures embedded in webpages into new/existing tabs, dragging quicklinks to new/existing tabs.. really nice work, I'm always finding new features that I'm not expecting.
    One addition which would be sweet would be drag'n'drop between OWB and Ambient windows (to download files to a local location).

    On an at least somewhat similar topic, I've got an Apple mini usb keyboard that is laid out almost identically to my powerbook keyboard but the mini's fn key (bottom left) seems to be ignored. Can the mini keyboard be made to behave like a powerbook keyboard? I'd like to use the fn key in combination with the cursor keys and delete key to page up&down, home, end and delete forward.
    PPC assembly ain't so bad... ;)

    Not sure, but you could try checking the mapping for the function key on your Powerbook. Mine has sadly gone to silicon heaven, so I can't check until I get a replacemnt.

    As an update to the above, I've found that this keyboard is slightly weird - the F11 key doesn't register on the first press, but only on continuous pressing or shift-pressing. It's as if the first press never makes it out of the buffer. All other keys work fine, as does the F11 when held down for repeat press, or on a single press with a qualifier (eg shift).

    --------------

    On a slightly different note, I've finally got all keys correclty mapped!

    The HID interface in Poseidon really doesn't help with this though, listing a lot of "unprintable seq" and just undescribed hex codes where descriptions really should be. If these aren't mapped correctly by default, it's a royal pain in the arse working it all out.

    In British Keyboard with 105 keys keymap the following have no useful descriptions:

    0x47 (unprintable seq..) = Insert
    0x48 (unprintable seq..) = Page Up
    0x49 (unprintable seq..) = Page Down
    0x4B (unprintable seq..) = F11
    0x68 = Mouse left press
    0x69 = Mouse right press
    0x6a = Mouse middle press
    0x6b (unprintable seq..) = Scroll Lock
    0x6c (unprintable seq..) = Print Screen
    0x6d (unprintable seq..) = Numlock
    0x6e (unprintable seq..) = Pause/Break
    0x6f (unprintable seq..) = F12
    0x70 (unprintable seq..) = Home
    0x71 (unprintable seq..) = End
    0x72 = Media Stop
    0x73 = Media Play
    0x74 = Media Previous
    0x75 = Media Next
    0x76 = Media Rewind
    0x77 = Media Fwd
    0x7e = Mouse 4th button press

    Ones which appear unusable and unassigned:

    0x0e (unprintable seq..)
    0x1c (unprintable seq..)
    0x2c (unprintable seq..)
    0x3b (unprintable seq..)
    0x78
    0x79

    Thanks for that tip but I'm not familiar enough with the interface & preferences and I don't have time to play atm.

    I'd just like to have a full list of what each function key does in OWB, and for the rest of MorphOS, such as the additional keys on a Mac Keyboard, like the eject button, which at the moment does not appear to be mapped, as do the volume up/down/mute keys - which seems a waste.

    I don't know what the F1 to F16 keys do either, or the [X] button on the numeric keypad does or could be used for if made active for MorphOS.

    I also wonder if it's possible for a new browser Tab to open adjacent to the one that it has been launched from, as sometimes I have a few tabs open, and then I have to go to the end tab, which I might have to scroll to get to the end of the number of tabs I have open, and then if I have to refer to the other tab I have to go back to that tab, or I click-move the tab to the other related tab. If I've missed something in the configuration/settings then please let me know.

    In Firefox the above is possible, and just wondered if it could also be possible on our favourite browser.

    I use a Mac A1016 Bluetooth wireless keyboard with MorphOS most of the time, and it works well, but not being able to use all the key functions is a little annoying.
