As mentioned in another thread, every so often my screen goes blank for a second or two. I've noticed the same behaviour using MorphOS 2.7, 3.1 and 3.2 but only in 1920x1080 on my newly acquired display (choice of vga or dvi makes no difference). I'm yet to notice this with any lower resolution selected.

Just for the sake of curiousity, I'd like to see what happens when a completely different OS runs on the same system but the only one that I have atm is the ancient e17ka (custom Gentoo LiveCD with Enlightenment and FluxBox for the Efika) but I've forgotten how to configure it and specify higher resolutions.

Does anyone here use linux on their Efika? Is there any up-to-date distribution that is likely to support 1920x1080 displays?

Also, does anyone here use AROS on their Efika? I've asked a few questions on the aros-exec.org forum but I think those guys are mostly into x86 hardware.
PPC assembly ain't so bad... ;)

The problem happening only on the highest res might mean that the graphics card is overheating.

Sounds similar issue I (and others) have had on Mac mini "always". Screen goes blank for a second or two and frequency of it seems to depend many things. It's worse with other monitors, it sometimes seem to depend usage of gfx chips, sometimes just randomly. Some monitors are almost unusable (even lowres like 1280x1024) and some are ok and it happens max once a day (my current fullhd monitor).

And it happens on other systems too. My Mac mini did the same with OSX and MorphOS. When I had worse monitor for it I tuned output frequencies myself (randomly) and got it better on both systems.

Threads on a similar (or even the same) problem:
