Some would say the G5 Macs but I have to disagree. I think the last MDD systems before the G5 are much better currently. You can get a lot more RAM to map, the PCI cards seem to work better in them, no fear of a liquid cool disaster (I had a G5 powermac tower that killed itself) Parts are much cheaper to find and easier to install. No PCI-X slots to deal with.

However the non liquid cooled G5 tower is a nice choice if you can find one in good shape. The only drawback is the 1GB RAM wall.

This IS the ultimate Amiga. The one and only Amiga laptop! I love mine.

I'd love to get something powerful like G5 but much smaller. PB 5,9 is nice also.

Efika - rocking 400MHz and only little RAM. Sounds pretty useless, but MorphOS proves it isn't (well except for webbrowsing). It's a funny device which I really like.
Then again, the 1.67GHz Powerbooks are really sweet and if I had to decide for one MorphOS system only; I'd go for my Powerbook of course (fast, lots of RAM, small. mobile, low wattage).

My 15" PowerBook 5,8 A1138 is lovely, best Amiga laptop I've used by far (Amithlon comes second).

It's also much easier to lug around than my 17" Macbook Pro too. :)

Is there a future port for the other g5 models of powermacs?(i mean the towers).

It is all about speed with me. I actually use MorphOS as my primary computer. My PowerMac G5 2.7Ghz will be the ultimate MorphOS system in 2-3 weeks. It has a Radeon 9800XT and I am going to install a SSD.

You need speed to live in the real world. Some people are content with 360p, I want 1080p

It would look like a G4 Cube with the power of a G5 2.x GHz but 50W max. Does not need to be noiseless but would be fine (difficult to achieve). Number of cores not too important but would support 4GB RAM and more (MOS had to be upgraded to 64bit for it) and support higher resolutions than 1920x1200 and multiple displays.

I just want an all in one machine with a 21 inch lcd so I will wait for the iMac G5's to come around.

Might be in as new supported platform for 3.4.

At the risk of having the rest of you through stones at me, I'll reluctantly tell you what would be MY ultimate MorphOS System.

It would be an A4000 in a tower case with a ZorroII to PCI adapter board for better video cards and semi-modern expansion cards, plus a brand new CPU accelerator with a single over-clocked G4 running at 1.5GHz to 1.8GHz, or a single G5 running at 2.0GHz to 2.7GHz, salvaged from an old Mac computer.

It will most likely never happen, but possibly could be the most successful MorphOS capable computer ever supported, if the accelerator were created at a price that is lower than the old Phase5/DCE dual CPU accelerators are still selling for today. Instead of trying to duplicate the dual CPU design of the original Phase5 boards, this new accelerator could either have the 68k portion replaced by a fast FPGA w/soft core 68k CPU, or it could have no 68k hardware at all, and instead have the G4/G5 emulate the 68k CPU to keep backward compatibility with old Amiga software.

Just a crazy idea that won't happen, but could be wildly popular with the remaining Amiga users, and probably many hundred, if not thousands of former Amiga users.

Chances of fitting an actual 2.5" drive + adaptor in the PB's HD holder are reather slim.

My experience:
- Efika with 32GB PATA SSD, served for years before in my MorphMini
- PowerMac G4 with 2GB CF-card on IDE (for boot: partition) and a 500GB Seagate hypbid on a Sil3112
- iBook with 120GB PATA SSD works just fine for months

Not sure wether I will move the hybrid to the G5 or buy something new....

I used a 400x CompactFlash card for around 2 years in my 24/7 running Pegasos2 without any problem.

It just got hell fast on loading/booting times.

I recently replaced the CF card with an up to date SATA SSD and will install the CF card in my powermac.

After all the experience I had with flash media, I just won´t return to hard drives.

SSDs rock!

At least up to 1.7 GHz you wouldn't even have to overclock the G4.

No, I wasn't aware that you knew about Freescale still selling G4 CPUs up to 1.7 GHz. And I think I will refrain from claiming that you were aware of my unawareness. Btw, my reply surely wasn't a "correction" of any kind, as it didn't correct anything you wrote.
