If you have a LCS and haven't bebuilt it yet, DO IT! It *IS* leaking and will kill your computer. Rebuilding mine took about an hour. It is NOT hard.

I had the original 2.5 and it leaked about its 4 year mark. Apple still fixed it and I sold it after that. It's why I won't buy a used one now.

I never said it was hard to do, I just had my $3500 Powermac kill itself and don't trust a used one now.

I thought all 2.5ghz models were passive cooled? Maybe theres newer revisions with LCS.

No, all 2.5Ghz G5 PowerMac's are Liquid Cooled, AFAIK. There was a dual CPU model and a later dual core plus dual CPU's, known as the quad core G5 PowerMac.

I would wager that most liquid cooled G5 PowerMac's have leaks that look just like the picture posted in the link in this thread. I also rebuilt my dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMac's liquid cooling system seals to insure that it would not leak again and cleaned all of the corrosion from the heatsink.

I also strongly suggest that anyone who has purchased a liquid cooled G5 do the same.

Out of the AGP/PCI(x) PMacs only the 2x2.7 and the older 2x2.5 are watercooled.

With the PCIe models ALL are watercooled even if the Quad is the only one containing 2 CPU-modules (2 cores eachs)

So it still stands, anything faster or younger than the DualCPU 2.3GHz will have "water"cooling (added the "" just in case AW was in for another nitpicking ).
