    OK thanks, I asummed al 511WG xxx had the right chipset.

    I'll search for a new one somewhere....

    Confusing naming by Netgear: WG511T is a card based on the Atheros chipset. It is a 108Mbps card that works at 54Mbps on MorphOS (and AROS or AmigaOS). WG511v2 is a 54Mbps card based on Marvell chipset that does NOT work on MorphOS (or Aros or AmigaOS). I happen to be using the WG511T card on my PowerBook right now and it works just fine...

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

    Unfortunately you can't assume anything with these. Manufacturers have changed chipsets like socks and you'll have to check exact model numbers and versions. In really worst case like with this, there has even been two different chipsets with same model/version number.

    I received my Netgear WG511T and the card is recognized by Morphos on my Powerbook G4 after a reboot.
    After connecting to my WPA2 SSID cable modem I got the message in OWB: could not resolve hostname.
    But after changing the channel in the cable modem from 10 to 6 the message is gone and I can browse in OWB.

    As a possible work-around to use WEP, here's a sample WEP config that could be added to the wireless prefs file:

    Code:

    network={
    ssid="mynet2"
    key_mgmt=NONE
    wep_key0=123456789abcdef123456789ab
    wep_tx_keyidx=0
    }

    ............

    There is a small mistake if you use a text-key: you will need quotion marks for the key!
    eg:
    .............
    wep_key0="125689blablabla6565"
    ............

    I don't know why, but my Netgear W511T needs as first line in wireless.prefs following line:

    update_config=1

    network={
    ssid="mynet2"
    key_mgmt=NONE
    wep_key0="blablabla123"
    wep_tx_keyidx=0
    }

    Without that line, Atheros-Chip won't go online........

    :-) Just ordered the TP-Link TL-WN610G PCMCIA card for my PowerBook as they are very cheap (~10€ new) and the chipset is AR2414: listed as supported by the ath5k driver.
    TL-WN610G.jpg
    In my PowerMac there's a regular 54Mbps TL-WN350GD PCI card (AR2417) for MorphOS.

    That is weird as I have a PowerBook5,6 and does work (b/g speeds of course) - are you trying to connect to a n only network or is your SSID hidden? What do you mean with autodetect?

    a) your card is defect
    b) your PCMCIA-slot is defect
    c) PCMCIA in PB5.2 is slighly different than in newer PBs and therefore not working

    If that is the case surely your adapter has the wrong chipset?

    It might be some software related limitation of the PowerBook5,2 as it probably uses a different TI Cardbus->PCI bridge compared to the later models which is not supported by MorphOS (yet). You can check via showconfig if the card is listed as PCI device.
    There should be both some TI PC card controller as well as some Atheros wireless network adapter.

    I have a problem with Cisco Aironet AIR-CB21AG-A-K9.

    I plug it in and go to prefs and network. I have the atheros driver in the prefs screen and add a manual ip that is free on my network.

    I turned off the security on my router sine i don't find any place to enter any password in mos.

    All that happens is that the cisco is blinking with both led's simultainius an no conection.

    ifconfig in shell shows nothing.

    ?

    what did i miss ?

    The bus ?? ;)

    MorphOS and Atheros does support WPA and you should enable that in your router.

    If you select wl0 in the Network-Prefs you should see a list of available network, select yours and you will be asked for the password. A few second after entering you should be connected via DHCP (never tried static IP with WLAN),

    If that fails you may want to provide more info, like what PB your useing and where it fails.

    Hope you plug it in before booting MorphOS. It won't work if you plug it afterwards!

    What you should do instead is to select your network on the networks list and connect to it by doubleclicking. If the network requires a WPA(2) password, you will be prompted for it.

    Once connected, the led next to your network name will turn green. Press Save in Network settings. Done.

    I reinstall mos and choose the ateros driver and dhcp. added open dns ip's
    and double clicked my network and suprisingly it worked.. YES!

    Only difference I se is that I now use the latest mos downloaded today.

    perhaps something was screwed up in my old setup hence reinstalling mos.

    Anyway thaks for the advices..

    And there was me looking at the (already known) "Computer turned on: No".

    Nice spot Andreas! :-)

    EDIT: That WLan config screenbar module looks nice too - great stuff!

    Well, this was definitely no April Fools' joke. I am currently working on the internal WiFi driver for the MorphOS 3.6 release.
    I originally considered to launch some early bird user tester program for Easter which every registered user could apply to although our policy usually is that we don't release anything in advance before a full MorphOS update release. On a second thought, I considered that this requires some expertise regarding MorphOS and this should probably be limited to the more experienced users.
    Anyway, as some sort of Easter MorphOS gift and to acknowledge the registration of MorphOS even without internal Wifi support, any registered MorphOS user who can actually make use of the internal b43 wifi may write some email to b43beta@morphos-team.net to apply for b43 driver testing to MorphOS Team. Please be aware that we still might reject your application and you might have to wait until MorphOS 3.6 is finally released, last but not least we have to limit the number of testers to a reasonable amount.
    Also be aware that this is supposed to be some early bird testing, so if you don't feel comfortable with any sort of testing of new software, better wait for the final release and don't apply !
