Hi all, just to see if anyone has this issue... isn't the via_rhine ethernet driver supossed to support and run at 100 mbps?

My DSL modem has 100 mbps ports... my laptop PC and my Powerbook connect at speeds of 100 mbps to the same modem.. not so the via_rhine on my Pegasos so I'm wondering why the via_rhine doesn't! And to make it more weird... OS4 does connect at 100 mbps with the same ethernet port...on the same hardware to the same modem...

    Comments welcome,

    Cheers..

you could try to create envarc:sana2/via_rhinepci_0.config and put

    100BASETX
    FULLDUPLEX

inside and see if that helps

Hey there mate.. thanks for your reply.

Tried it but it didn't work... you have a Pegasos II right? Does the via_rhine NIC connect at 100 mbps with roadshow/miamidlx or netstack?

    Cheers,

There was a thread about that issue on Pegasosforum.de (from Thore). On MorphOS, network-statistics shows also 10mbps, but it seems that this value is'nt the truth...... Thore reported that his PEG2 is as slow as shown, but mine (and others) connets with 100mpbs - nevertheless 10mbps is shown in statistics.....
You report now the same behaviour under OS4.....strange! I've tested speed under OpenFirmware - seems hardware is OK. MorphOS uses a stack based on AmiTCP - maybe Roadshow and AmiTCP have the same issues (seems it depends to device....). But the strange thing: why are'nt all PEG2 affected....? (Depending on board-revision.........?)
    Peg2, 3xPowerMac G5, 2xPowerbookG4, 2x MacMiniG4, Efika (again), A3000T and life is never boring.....

Actually, he measured a LAN upload speed of 48 Mbit/s (6 MByte/s), which wouldn't be possible with a real 10 Mbit connection.

Does he? As I've understood him, OS4 correctly shows a 100 Mbit connection for him.
