This is the folowup to "powerbooks scare me".
Yep, I took it a a mac repair center and the logic board is bad.
It locks up every 30 minutes.
I am attempting to send it back to the seller on eBay.

Sooooo....I need another one if anyone has one.
Prefer 17".

It might be just a coincidence, but are you sure you have your MorphOS keyfile in correct place, because 30 minutes would be quite close to demo timeout on MorphOS. Does it have your name on "About MorphOS" window? It shouldn't lock up completely without registering and there should be a requester, but who knows if it wouldn't act like should in your setup... I'm just making sure that you wouldn't accidently do too much extra work :)

Have you been checking debug log (easiest from debug screenbar module) if there's any badly behaving programs you've installed causing lots of output there?

Can you test with OSX or with some Linux live-cd if it locks then too?

I have a spare 15" motherboard, but I'm pretty sure that work work in a 17".

Definitely not a MorphOS key issue. Mac Authority has verified that the logic board is bad. I guess they mean the motherboard.
The ebay seller was, according to them, not truthful about it being an Apple refurb because Apple has not supported these machines for over 3 years.
I have opened a case with ebay and if the man gives me any trouble I will use ebay buyer protection to get my money back.


NOTE:
Just got a very nice 2 bay raid box for 2.5" drives. No powerbook to use it with though.

@Robert - that's a 1GHz Al 15" Powerbook.

Not currently supported by MorphOS <=3.1. It's unknown whether MorphOS 3.2 will expand support to other models.

The MorphOS Team at least hopes to support other models with MorphOS 3.2, including the PowerBook5,2.

Sent powerbook back today.
Should get a refund in 3 days from ebay.
There are several powerbooks on ebay for under $200.
Would really like to go iMac G5 though.
