I'm looking for a few people to help me test the MorphOS usb driver for the Xbox 360 wireless pad (with a usb PC adapter) or even the wired controller. Please PM/email/IRC me if you've got one and are willing to help.

Please note that the driver won't appear before MorphOS 3.2 is out because it relies on technologies that are still in development and not available in 3.1. At this point I'm looking for people willing to test the purely diagnostics driver that won't let anyone play games though. I just want to know whether it'll work OK everywhere and not just with the pad I've got here :)

Thanks for the PMs. Since I got a few, I guess it'll be easier to coordinate this in this thread. Will post a link to a test driver soonish.

OK, so far only the wireless controller with PC adapter is supported.

Please fetch http://dreamolers.binaryriot.org/priv/xbox.lha . put the class into MOSSYS:Classes/USB, open USB settings, go to Classes and press Dir Scan to make the class appear in the list.

Plug the PC adapter in, turn a pad on - now what should happen is that the led corresponding to the pad number will be lit and it will rumble for about 1s. Launch logtool to see the debug log output and play with the buttons - all the values should appear in the log. Let me know if any of this does not work. Would be great if anyone could test if a 2nd or 3rd connected pad will have a proper led lit (I've only got one pad).

    edit: link fix

Well that is what they say in Britain, we were tought so at least.
Since they (ususally) teach British English in German Schools, we heard also about lorrys, rubbish bin, and that some strange people call autumn "fall" ;-)
So yes, I also would have called it "full stop"

No, that's what those strange British, Irish, Australian, New Zealand and South African folks call it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_stop
    http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/full_stop

In German this would be http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punkt_(Satzzeichen) :-)

So do you all say Zed instead of "Z" as well? Hence making the band ZZ Top, Zed Zed Top? :)

If by "you all" you mean the British, the Irish, the (older*) Canadian, the Australian, the New Zealanders, the South Africans and all the people who are taught British English as foreign language, then the answer is a clear yes.

I can't speak for others, but as this band is known to me and I also know that they're from the US, I know how to pronounce it as it is meant to be pronounced :-)

OK, I've reuploaded the driver, again to http://dreamolers.binaryriot.org/priv/xbox.lha .
This time it *should* bind to a few more controllers, namely:

Microsoft's original Xbox 360 wired controller
    Logitech Chillstream controller
Mad Catz Wired Xbox 360 controller
    Pelican PL-3601 and TSZ controllers

In theory they should all be the same handling-wise, but I don't have any of them so I could not test. Here's where all of you come in :) Please go through the instructions from the first post with the link and get back to me.

    And no thread-jacking please!

Did you guys try to sync the devices? I got another report from someone saying he had to force the connection between devices to make them work.

All of you, please run logtool and see if there are pad events showing up in the log when you press the buttons on the pad - it could be that it's just sending the led status command that's failing and the rest works (actual synchronization is done by the hardware, the driver just sets the leds).

    You can do a
    type >debug: blah
in a shell to verify debug catching works OK for you - it will show up in logtool.

If the log is empty when you connect the receiver, it means the xbox controller class was not loaded by Poseidon. Are you sure it shows up in USB Settings' Classes list? If it does but there's nothing in the log, go to USB - >Devices, find the xbox receiver, doubleclick it and make a screenshot of the window that'll open after the dblclick.
