This is the dual version of the CPU I have in my Quicksilver. i was able to overclock mine to 2.0Ghz easy, this probably would too.

For a dual this is a fair price. Not my listing, just pointing out in case someone wants arguably the fastest MorphOS system possible ATM.

7448 at 2.0 GHz, as was sold by Newer Technology so is guaranteed to run safely at that clock speed, is faster than 7448 at 1.8 GHz, which may or may not run stable when overclocked to 2.0 GHz. And I guess that 7447A/B/C at 2.0 GHz, as was sold by Newer Technology, PowerLogix and Giga Designs, is also faster than 1.8 GHz 7448.

    Correct me if I'm wrong..
Both 7447 and 7448 have no L3 cache. 7447 has 512KB of L2 and 7448 "SHOULD" have 1MB of L2 even if in this auction it says it has only 512, so the same of the 7447. So why do you say that the 7448 i slower than 7448? I'm confused.

I don't believe the upgrade listed is a 7448 based model. For a start it doesn't mention anywhere in the listing that it's a 7448. It does however mention an L2 cache size of 512k. Which is consistent with the 7447A based model Newertech produced. Further more according to this guide
officially Newertech only produced a 1.7GHz dual 7448 upgrade. Of course they're easy to overclock to 1.8GHz or 2GHz.

Still I think it's not a bad price. In saying that I only paid $300 for a complete Quicksilver system with a 2GHz 7448 installed ;)

    Correct.

    Who said this?

    Yes, apparently ;-)

Your statement "And I guess that 7447A/B/C at 2.0 GHz, as was sold by Newer Technology, PowerLogix and Giga Designs, is also faster than 1.8 GHz 7448." confused me, but now it's everything clear.

Those benchmarks were done on MP-capable OS, so unfortunately they lack a "7447A 2.0 MP" system for fair comparison with the listed "7448 1.8 MP" system, or a "7448 1.8 SP" system for fair comparison with the listed "7447A 2.0 SP" system.

Are you quite sure it's dual?

On the last photo the solder pads relating to the second cpu appear to be free of components, and the big chunky caps halfway up aren't in place.

Looks an awful lot like a dual-capable pcb that's only populated with a since processor.
