    Hi,

I am doing a quick test of the board and I don't get any display. They are the same components I used before (gfx / memory) and they still work since I tested it on my A1SE. There is power since all the keyboard lights come on. I also changed the cmos battery to be sure. Any ideas or suggestions since I got the feeling I am overlooking something.

Peg1s can be very picky when it come to RAM.

But back in the day (read 2002) my Peg1 also seemed DOA until I once connected another puter to look for the serial debug.

Afterwards it booted regardless of serial connection......

I am trying to setup a serial debug at this moment. I am just thinking that the only thing different is the keyboard. Is it that picky it won't display without a) kb connected b) not supported kb?

IIRC using no keyboard at all is not supported on Peg1. But I'm not sure if you should at least see the BIOS message of the gfx card.

    XP ??? :flame:

Isn't there "HyperTerminal" somewhere preinstalled (I think that one came with XP, or was it 98 ??).
    Otherwise just google for it...

    Settings should be:
    115200 8n1 (8bit no parity 1 stop bit)

PuTTY does the job as well.

have you tried to use a normal Virge PCI graphic card (instead of AGP) to see if there's display output?

    Too bad :-(

Have you tried different memory modules? try 100Mhz and 133Mhz ones.

Maybe adding a new coin battery would help.

PS: Teraterm is a good terminal program for XP. Remember that your serial cable must be "null modem".

    @Crumb

I tried two different modules but no luck. I used the one from the A1Se which still works and worked in the Peg before. I used the cmos battery from the A1SE.

I will try to score a new serial cable.

I have no IDE cables connected to the board. I always strip it to a minimum. Surely it does not need a HD to be connected to display, right?
