Since MorphOS already supports LSI based SCSI controllers and Franks hinted that future versions may enable their use in Powermas, I've got a question.
PCI-X SCSI controller like theLSI Logic Ultra 320 SCSI Controller LSI20320A-R are available really cheap right now and would be a great match for the expansion slots in G4 and G5 Powermacs.

What are the chances that we could see expanded SCSi controller support? TheLSI Logic Ultra 320 SCSI Controller LSI20320A-R would be a really cool addition.

Sorry, the controller I mentioned is PCI-X, which means you'd need a G5 Powermac to run it. It still would be a great option on that machine when support is introduced.

I'm going back to trying to find out what the fastest SCSI drive that will work in a G4 is. Take care all.

Sorry to be posting an entire thread myself, but I just found this spec via HP:

LSI20320A-R Bus architecture PCI-X (backward compatible with PCI)

So this might be compatible with BOTH the G4 and G5.

Purchased LSI Logic Ultra 320 SCSI Controller LSI20320A-R on Ebay today for about $10. Will install in Powermac and try to test under Ubuntu (or other Linux distros)..

If I can get it to work, I am willing to buy more for the developers.

Yeah, I kinda thought so too.
I've done this once in the past.
I purchased a Symbios895 SCSI controller that I knew would work in a Pegasos and gambled on it working in a Powermac.
It does (under Ubuntu) and Frank has said that SATA and SCSI controller support should come to the Powermac in a future revision.
AS this controllers specs state that it will work in a PCI-X or a PCI slot, I'm hoping it will work in both the 64 bit PCI slots of the G$ Powermac and the PCI-X slots of the G5 Powermac.
    We'll just have to see..
    .
Thanks for the sole reply on this one person rant of a thread. I was kind of hoping for at least one PM accepting the offer to supply them to the developers, but maybe I ought to wait until I know it works (it will work in a G5, but hey, I don't have that).

    TBC

No luck running this card in a Powermac (yet).
It does work in an X86 PC (under Windows) when installed in a PCI slot.
