    PMac can have both higher RAM-bandwidth and faster CPUs then the Peg-G4, so thats a plus.

    Downside, they are the definition of butt-ugly....

    If you want to be sure to get a Powermac G4 that's "better" than a Pegasos 2 then a high end MDD or FW800 model is your best bet. A 1.25Ghz model will probably prove to be the best buy as 1.42Ghz models seem to hold their value better, at least that's the case in the UK. As to why they are better: faster cpu clock speed and higher fsb speed are the obvious two.

    Don't forget a real AGP 4x bus (the Pegasos agp slot is connected to PCI bus..) that in the near future with the news MorphOS 2D/3D drivers will give a big speed improvement!

    PegasosII "Elite" Machine --> PowerMac MDD "popular" Machine --> MacMini 1.5 "still more popular" Machine

    @thread

    thanks guys well at the moment judging from reading threads Peg2 is better than pmac with the current version of morphos. Specifically expandablity of pci cards ( i have tv card, sata, usb2, sound etc) ability to use high ram gfx cards, etc

    Also isnt the MDD pmac voted the loudest home computer of all time? :roll:

    The cases are not as cool either.. I love when people come to my place and see the peg2 in its coolermaster case with white cathode tube through the metal aluminum mesh case. 8-)

    maybe you should say that it's your POV. Powermac G4 and Peg2 have both its advantages and disadvantages. The uniformed case design is more a general "problem" (if any) of Macs. Personally I've got no problem with the Powermacs case design. Another advantage of the Powermacs is the better support of operating systems beside MorphOS, Linux maybe as well supported as on the Peg2, but OSX is (obviously) definitely better supported on Powermacs.
