    > this could be a possible target as well.

Is the following maybe a special 12" version of the above 9" device?

"At the AmiWest, Steven Solie, who is Hyperion's project manager of the development of the operating system, has announced a PowerPC-netbook for AmigaOS 4. This 12"-netbook will be based on the e300-architecture and will be available at the end of the second quarter year 2012 for about 300 to 500 US-Dollar. According to Steven Solie, AmigaOS 4 is already running on it but the drivers are still in development."
    http://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-2011-10-00049-EN.html

"The device already exists and will be sourced in a special configuration from an OEM. Hardware development is therefore 100% completed. The quoted price includes the AmigaOS 4.x license. AmigaOS is already running on the device."

"There is however a 3D chip onboard of the netbook."
    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=34459&forum=33&start=40#633831

"It is using an integrated graphics chip. No RadeonHD. No PA Semi. [...] The prototypes we have (plural, yes) all have 2 USB ports, internal audio with external jack plugs for headsets/microphone, Keyboard and touch-pad mouse. The prototypes have built-in Wireless and wired ethernet. [...] The prototypes have 512 MB memory -I think-. [...] AmigaOS *is* running on the device, although in a very early state."

I am 99% sure it is something 5121 based from THTF/Lime.
1st time I actually think Hyperion did a clever move. Wouldn't be too concerned if MorphOS-team decided for a 5121 netbook port.

    ..... I'd rather see a port to Clampshell-iBooks (read early G3).

About the same performance/specs, probraly less bugged and much cheaper.

Not sure which would win in the "ugly" department .........

    > I am 99% sure it is something 5121 based

Yes, that's for sure, taking into account some statements from AmiWest:

    - "e300-based"
    - "graphics to be based around powerVR chipset"
    - "compositing support for powerVR out of the box is in plan, hardware acceleration key to making experience positive."
    - "powerVR chipset performance is something he doesn't personally know."

    > from THTF/Lime.

Yes, that's almost sure. From the same source:

    - "1024x600 screen"
    - "the product is an OEM product"
    - "netbook already on market running linux."

    And also interesting:

"if the netbook sells, yes, more powerful portables are absolutely planned to follow"

More powerful than 400 MHz e300? Who is supposed to develop this? THTF? Varisys? Maybe they're going to resort to McEwen's sub-$300 "mini laptop" offering (pages 6/7)?

    - MPC7447A @ 867 MHz
    - Tundra Tsi108 northbridge
    - 128 MiB DDR2 RAM
    - nVidia 2D/3D GPU
    - 2x (or 4x) USB 2.0
    - 1x 10/100Mb Ethernet
    - 802.11b (add-on via Mini PCI)
    - 5" LCD
    - SD/CF slot
    - 40 GB HDD

McEwen said he could even provide the necessary docs for the nVidia chip ;-)

    More hints:

"First contacts for this were made at last year's AmiWest"
    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=34459&forum=33&start=180#634073

And now have a look at the infamous meet.mrnrg's AmiWest 2010 report:

"PPC Notebook running E-UAE was also taken note of as a interesting concept."
    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32625&forum=16#586196

"PPC on the laptop is more than likely to be a Freescale's power-efficient MPC5121e mobile GT"
    http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=32625&forum=16#586265

And just for kicks some of the hilarious threads started by him, for those who didn't know them already:

    http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4916
    ...and from his website:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=site:amiga.easypocketmoney.com

    :-)

Edit: Also, H.-J. "Rogue" Frieden on whether he was surprised when Hyperion approached him (and his brother) about the netbook project:

"I wasn't surprised because somebody approached Hyperion about it, and I knew about it beforehand so it wasn't really a surprise for us."

    I bet if it's not 12" then it's 9" (or rather 8.9"), i.e. a LimeBook Z9 in its original housing.

I think the g3 would wipe the floor with the limebooks :)
