Efika Sound Issue? Other Issues?

OK, I have Efika running MorphOS2.2 now thank to a lot of help from people in this forum. Here are a few things I have noticed so far:

    1) I have zero sound. Settings are AHI device 0 (I have actually tried them all) I have also tried every Efika variation listed. What is the magic trick to this?

    2) Having troubles installing software. Click on the install script icon for any particular program and nothing. I am assuming this is like original Amiga in that it uses the installer located in C directory. Not sure what the problem is here.

    3) I have searched everywhere for the mixer application and can't find it. I would have assumed it would be in easy to find place.

    4) In general, system hangs very frequently in any activity mode.

    5) What is Reggae? I know what it does but is it a separate application? or just an engine used by other applications. I am in process on getting Mplayer and AMP running, just not sure what Reggae is all about. Streaming abilities mentioned in specs seem cool to me.

I am thinking that something abnormal happened in my Morph install. I am tempted to wipe everything and try re-installing.

    Thanks,

I was in more or less the same situation ... knowing how Amiga works does help you with MorphOS... but there are difference that aren't always that obvious.

    1) sound worked for me out of the box with 2.2, so not sure

    2) get the 68k installer from Aminet and/or the new one for MorphOS PPC. Sometimes it works wit 68k, sometimes with the ppc version, sometimes neither of them work... Installling maually is sometimes the only option

    3) mixer is in wbstartup

    4) try MorphOS in 2D if you have a usb keyboard and mouse and maybe more connected without a selfpowered hub. The ony way 3D became useable with mine, was with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Something with the powersupply to the USBports they claim.

    5) Reggae ... not yet sure what is either :-)

Reggae is an approach to a new datatypes system like framework offering some advantages over the old one.

Correct me if I'm wrong: Didn't the first batch of Efikas had a problem with its audio chip, due to SmartFirmware? An update exists, though...

This is so very strange... Have you checked the sound volume? You can adjust it for example by activating the volume control on status bar (right click on the gadget in upper right corner, then activate Modules/Volume).

Isn't sound volume very low by default in MorphOS 2.x? If so, you just need to adjust the volume in audio prefs... and save.
