hi
i got a usb2ide lead i have a pioneer 109 dvd wrighter, when i load into morphos,
morphos see's the drive, but when the drive spins down box pop's up saving that the usb device has been removed then wont see the dvdwriter again...

i have the wrighter set on c/s

also when in OF, ls wont list whats on the cd, ie ls cd:0
devalias see's the cd

anyone any idea's to fix both these problems,

from OF i want to try installing suse11.1 full dvd

I use an usb2ide interface with DVD drive, too which works fine here.

In OF use SCSI:0, as its connected via usb, so SCSI must be used.

before i got ubs2ide adaptor

On efika usb(Top slot) plugged in to my dell monitor(4 usb slots are on here. 2underneath 2at the side)ie: keyboard,mouse Underneath & usb stick at side with one spare at side
Scsi:0 is the usb stick
booted worked just fine.

Got usb2ide adaptor, plugged direct into efika 2nd slot. pioneer109 on cable/select
booted into morphos(drive came up clicked on it,,this opened it,,at same time pop-up device reports drive has been removed)folder/drive i clicked on 1st still there, but if i clicked on file or folder in ther nothing.

now in OF with both usb stick & dvdrom plugged in. ls scsi:0 (nothin), if i remove usb stick reboot ls scsi:0 still nothing,,,devalias reprots there both there or just cd when usb stick is removed, with no dvdrom plugged in usb stick list directorys

Geit how is your jumper set ie master/slave/cable-select ?

ive been looking into this more
wi jumper on master it shows up in devalias as cd
wi jumper on slave doesnt show in devalias
wi jumper on c/s doesnt show in devalias,,,,but does work in morphos slave and master morphos doesnt work right usb pop-up menu says device has been removed and stops machine working

Those interfaces of course require the drive to be jumpered to master, as its the only drive on bus.

This isn't related to the OpenFirmware. OF only sees usb connected or not, while the IDE hardware is inside your ide2usb hardware.
