Hello, I just bought a picopsu for my Efika. But I can't seem to get it working. Or I just don't use a good adapter, or something else is wrong. Are all PicoPsu's ok to use with an Efika ? I bought this one: http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=400001936309

    Any suggestions ?

Yes, they work, but you need to get a power supply that is 12V with low tollerance. e.g. your interface is not working in car enviroument.

Normally I would have suggested to buy the "red" connector version which handles 8V tro 18V input, with avoids the need of a proper 12V source.

Also the external power supply is required to handle at least 16W.

Also note, that you need to start the efika by using the power switch and that power on take several seconds without any action. Better check with a standard power supply if the everything is assembled correct and then swap over to the new PicoPsu.

this Picu PSU should be perfectly fine. I personaly used a pico PSU-120 with the EFIKA (its slightly more powerful than yours) and it worked fine. Now I'm using exactly this very PSU-120 with my Pegasos2 which has lots of more components and needs more power than the Efika and it still works fine. G4, 512MB, Radeon 9250, small SATA 2,5" HD, SATA Adpter thingy, SCSI Card, DVD Writer and external USB devices. No problems. Only the external Powerblock thingy runs a bit hotter than with the EFIKA.

So a 90Watt one surely should be enough for an EFIKA. Just make sure your external power block is powerful enough. There seem to be differences there too. Maybe tell us what the stats of this thing are?

But then there als could be some hardware problem, maybe your PSU is just broken.

    regards,

I use PicoPSUs too - the first AC/DC converter I tried was rated at 12V but it was unregulated and actually put out something like 16V - nothing happened when I tried to turn the system on because the PicoPSU model I have requires (more or less) exactly 12V. Since then I have only used regulated 12V AC/DC converters and everything has worked well.

There are a number of different PicoPSUs and they don't all share the same input requirements so you'll have to find the documentation for your particular model. Try this stie - www.mini-box.com/

Well the Efika isn't the problem, it boots fine with a normal PSU. Probably the converter is the problem since it's rated only at 1100mA. That's 11 Watt and that's not enough.

    Hi,

    I have some spare picopsu 90W + 12V ac/dc converter left.

    I can't sell ac/dc alone sadly.

    Czk.
