Hello, i've been wanting to replace my old a1200 040/40 since it died, I had wanted to get a peg2 but haven't had much luck. I'm just curious to see if anybody has benchmarked the Trance performance on an efika as this seems like a nice little machine.

Basically would i see any performance gain/loss running 68k apps from my 040 on a efika.
    :-?
Also has anybody ordered the Open Client Plus from the genesi website to England as i'm curious about shipping cost & delivery time.

    Thanks

    Hi Relkari,

There is a PEGII G4 for sale here : PegIIG4

About Efika : I don't know but it flies anyway. 68k apps run smooth and to my taste, that's enough.

The JIT of MorphOS running on the Efika is about 5-10 times as fast as a 68040@25.

    You may find this
http://via.i-networx.de/EN/bench_en.html helpful . Maybe I'll update that a bit more on the coming weekend.

    Thanks

I think the efika will be perfect for me, was a bit disapointed about not been able to use a cdrom, but now i've been thinking about it my a1200 never had usb and if i'm transfering data between pc systems I usually use a USB device or Network of which both are supported.

I just need to decide if to buy the Open Client or just get the board and case it myself.....has anybody had any luck using nano/pico-itx cases?

p.s. has anybody tried purebasic on mos, i'm currently relearning to program and using this under Windows but there is a Amiga 68k version available it would be great if i could continue on the efika.

p.p.s can someone just confirm that the key for Mos2 is like the old mui3.8 key..ie if i wipe my hdd and reload can i just drop the key back in(i know this sounds stuipid but somebody has said that the install of mos2 key is once only)

About cdrom, you might be able to use a USB cdrom at least, but while reading would be ok, i doubt burning would be nice (or if it even works).

About the keyfile, you just copy back morphos.key in devs: and that's it. And if you lose it for some reason, you can always ask support to resend it. The only thing to be aware of is that keyfile is linked to your efika only and won't work on another one. :)

    Hi

I ordered an Open Client Plus from Genesi in July and have been very happy with it. Cost to me was ?245 (including delivery) and it took less than a week to be delivered by Fed Ex. Good communications with everybody there. When it did arrive the graphics card had worked lose but just opened up the case and reinserted it.

Warning though, you have to pay import duty of just under ?50. Genesi do not charge you this, however so you will receive an invoice from Fed Ex a few days later. Only problem was mine was sent to work and the firm nearly paid it!!

So total cost was ?300, and remember that this is before a USB keyboard and mouse, monitor etc if you haven't already got one.

In general really like my Efika especially since MorphOS 2.1 came out.

Hope that helps. Where in England are you? I'm just south of Manchester.

    Hi Zetec

Thanks for the warning about the import duty, just ordered mine about an hour ago :) took a couple of trys to get the payment to go through, i've just sent them a mail to confirm it's only gone through once.
