What card is in the Powerbook?

It is some kind of card that has an Atheros 5000 compatible chipset inside of it.

I would wait for support to be officially announced for specific cards from the Dev. Team before buying any such cards, as the driver is not finished yet (AFAIK), so you would be safer to wait until all the bugs have been squashed and work on it is complete and announced.

It does not appear that Prism2 compatible cards will be supported for a while longer (if ever).

I guess the following may qualify as such an announcement:

Reading "Airport" in the quoted news article seems to imply support for AirPort compatible Prism2 cards. I don't know about Prism2 cards for PCMCIA/CardBus though.

My own Atheros5000 compatible wireless Cardbus NIC should be here in a few days, so I will be ready for the release of MorphOS3.0 when it is done. The first one I ordered was not in stock and the company selling it did not know if/when they would be getting more of them, or I would already have one by now.

Until I see more clarification from a member of the MorphOS Dev. Team, I will remain skeptical about the mention of Airport support that is included in the linked report. Who ever wrote the report may be calling the PCMCIA/Cardbus slot of the G4 PowerBook an "Airport Slot", which it is not.

No Prism2, but Fab's Alchimie slides mention "Pilotes WIFI Atheros 5k (carte PCI)" in green colour on page 4, i.e. to be available with MorphOS 3.0.

Regarding the existing Prism2 driver, its author wrote:

"In theory you should be able to use the native MorphOS version of prism2.device 1.x (the WEP-only version) [...]. MorphOS probably doesn't have a card.resource for the Powerbooks' PCMCIA/CardBus slot, but if it did you could perhaps use the 68k WPA prism2.device."

Interestingly, the MorphOS 3.0 release notes read:
