I am slowly building my PPC Amiga and I am planning to order the Mediator 1200TX. Of course one of my first goals is to install and run MorphOS Power Up. But I think I read somewhere that it runs only when the G-Rex PXI interface is installed on the machine. Is it going to work with the Mediator? I am going to use a Voodoo3 gfx card.

Os4 does not support g-rex MorphOs does not support mediator... what the hell?

is it possible to have both PCI interfaces in the same machiine to run both OSes?

Is there any kind of way for MorphOS to run without g-rex?

There are some issues like this that makes me think that the whole thing is a total waste after all. MorphOS is my favorite OS, on the corner of my mind I wish more to see MorphOS PowerUp running on my classic PPC Amiga and OS4 comes second, but it seems that this is not going to be possible unless I found myself spending a lot of money to buy a 10 year old piece of gfx hardware ?and generally this goes for the PPC card as well-. Pretty sad the fact that MorphOS PowerUp would miss one more registered user.

Someone would advice me not to buy a mediator ?this was my main target- but get a BVision instead and this would solve the case that I want both OS4 and MorphOs in the same classic Amiga. But BVision is not an easy thing to grab and I know that I will give more money thtan the real value of the hardware just because it is rare.

I am not making this post to complain or judge anyone I just want to leave a small advise. Taking as a fact that MorphOS 2.0 is an in progress operating system the ones that are developing it would better attach support on cheap and in time hardware. Efika is a great start, a second could be all the PCI interfaces for the classic Amiga they are cheap and in time hardware as well.

Isn't the last batch of A1200 from 1995? That'd make them even older than the BVisions. And Amigas aren't exactly cheap and in time hardware either.

MorphOS has its root sin the Amiga world right? So why do not give a support even in the in time hardware solutions like some PCI interfaces ?Mediator for example-.

The price of a Bvision may be almost the same as the one of a Mediator ?in the case that a Bvision would be found around 200-250 euros- but Bvision is not that easy stuff to get. This is the main point. And Mediator is a brand new hardware I would buy it sealed and in new condition, not the same mode as with a second hand 10 year old Bvision. If you can have the brand new stuff, we not get it?

Yes Amiga is not an time hardware but it has some hardware updates and expansions that could be supported by MorphOS which is an OS carrying the Amiga spirit and bringing it in the current era.

Anyway I do not want to be mentioned as the ?one who just asks for more? I know that it is deadly difficult for the developers to make it all possible but I gues that MmorphOS should not leave the Amiga world. In 2.0 this is almost done ?no Bliz support-, but lets keep a last hope?.

@CountRaven, I highly doubt you will ever see official support (by the MorphOS Team) for mediator...too much history between Elbox and MorphOS team...sad but true.

Also I highly doubt you would ever see Elbox offer support, either.

In the end it's the users that suffer. But then again so does MorphOS team and Elbox, since less people will buy their products :-)
    A4000/060/PPC-200MHz, A4000T/060/PPC-233MHz, CD32, MicroA1, Pegasos 2 G4, AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.5GHz, MacMini 1.5GHz/64MB VRam...mwwmwahhh :)

    @ CountRaven

It's just not worth to put more efforts into Amiga hardware support IMO.
Of course it's quite cool to run MOS on that old hardware, but that hardware *is* old, rare and has not much power.
I used to run MorphOS on the Blizzard and while I liked it a lot since the entire Blizzard got some sense then, it wasn't too much of a pleasure, when you know how MorphOS flies on the Pegasos or on the Efika.
The Efika is todays play item. it's small, reliable, silent and available.
I had an PPC Amiga and sold it off two years ago and haven't cried a single tear about that old maschine. Instead I actually sleep better, since I am not always afraid that the old silicon will go titts-up on next power up...
