It looks like Cherrypal will be the first THTF OEM partner. They will sell the LimePC "ThinPC" under their own brand.

Here are some news articles covering it:

This is a picture of the Cherrypal 2 Watt computer:

And this is a picture describing the Thin PC concept:

I wonder who will be next OEM, and what product that will be of the previously announced LimePC concepts and the recently shown Laptop(:-o)?

Maybe it's a good idea to get the brainstorming going again in the "Suggestions welcome" thread?

The mass market may actually be coming now!

    :-)

You are right. They are the same devices. You can get an idea of the size in this picture:

    2603053373_0424f96061.jpg

The EFIKA in the open Open Client case is shown next to the LimePC/Cherrypal and keyboard. The shipping box is on the upper left.

We will have a number of systems to distribute to developers. Of course, we will want to provide some to the MorphOS-Team. We are still working toward success on all counts.

One target MorphOS may be well-suited for would be widget-driven devices. It could be interesting to be able to drop a widget onto a wired or wirelessly connected device that would then become the home to the widget. Here is a section from a document we are working on:

Most major operating systems implement gadget APIs and functionality, such as Apple MacOS X (Dashboard Widgets), Windows Vista (Sidebar Gadgets) , KDE (Plasmoids) along with software from Google (Google Gadgets) which runs on older Windows, Linux, etc. providing much the same functionality on the desktop.

These gadgets can range from stock tickers, weather reports, comic syndication, and email/calendar tools to full games (Solitaire/Klondike, Minesweeper) and utility applications (BitTorrent monitor).

Focuses on implementing web-apps and other informational tools such as clock, calendars, weather, and maps. Apple and KDE implementations allow real native-code applications to run in gadgets for extra low-level functionality not accessible from Web 2.0 toolkits (system information, audio/video).

Leverage this functionality on a device - implement support for Web 2.0-based Google, Windows, Mac and Linux (KDE) widgets that rely on these toolkits. Sponsorship of widgets (NYTimes Stock Ticker, Weather Channel weather, Coca Cola branding) can be used to subsidize devices.

Free widgets (simple stuff like Google Maps or Web 2.0 Google Talk, eBay watcher, job listings, FaceBook/Beebo/MySpace/etc.) and paid-for widgets (native Google Talk with audio/video, Skype, sponsored items such as Comics.com syndication to device (Dilbert, Get Fuzzy etc.) or Sports Highlight videos as implemented on 2.5G mobile phones (every goal and send-off from a soccer match, after the match has finished, for example) can be purchased by customers (matches Chumby's business model).

A device can be created to match the features of Chumby; or expanded with video playback functionality on a higher-end processor. Gaming can scale from card/board games (Solitaire, Mahjongg) and 3D graphics powered by the MPC5121E and MBX Lite IP core, also used in the iPhone.

    We will keep you posted...
    R&B :-)

I just read the article on "the register" about CherryPal (written in a quite "dynamic" way - it will be interesting to read their reaction when they get their hands on the product). One thing about the name was interesting: "And the CherryPal name? Well, we?re told that Cherry arrived because cherries are sweeter than Apples. Boo-yah! And the Pal bit points to the community aspect of sharing software via the cloud." Cool! :-)

Very interesting picture you posted BTW. That gives a perspective on sizes.

And the keyboard looks very interesting as well. With the built in track ball and mouse buttons, I have to ask if it's wireless? Bluetooth? I see no cord behind it, and it certainly looks like one of those keyboards suitable for having in your lap when sitting in your sofa or something. A branded wireless keyboard would be a perfect match to the entire Lime product line! :-)

Oh man, I could see myself sitting in my sofa with this in my lap, using my 42" MorphOS driven HDTV. Watching TV, recording shows, streaming mp3's, browsing the web, writing e-mails, chatting on IRC, instant messaging, looking at my photos, downloading stuff, and binding everything together in my own way through custom arexx scripts! ;-) (/dream mode off)

BTW, put a suitable Lime motherboard *inside* that keyboard case and you'd have a...

    oqjb41.jpg

    ...Morpher 1200! ;-)

(Of course the Windows logos on the Windows keys would have to be replaced with butteflies! :-P ;-))

Linux is perfect for these devices. Linux can be optimized to
    run on everything.

Linux on the CherryPal would be a perfect fit.

MorphOS on those devices is a perfect fit, too. But neither the perfect fit "Linux", nor the perfect fit "MorphOS" will suit everybody.

    You are correct.

The problem with MorphOS, however, is that we're still waiting for it,
to run on a platform they announced support for 1.5 years ago..

I would guess it would take another three years to support the CherryPal.
