I would like to buy a pico PSU for my Efika - how many watts does it use, when its up and running (with HDD, usb and video card) in use?

    Thanks!

Few, very few watts. There's a thread in Power Developer site, started by Krashan, about the web server he built with an Efika. People reported there their setup power usage:

"I have an el cheapo power meter and 80 GB HDD, 9200SE
and EFIKA drew about 20-22 Watts" - Kristian Eklund.

"I have one EFIKA running with a Club 3D NVidia FX5200, without harddrive, and this set-up consumes 15Watt. Measured from a quality lab power supply, so should be accurate" - Johan Dams.

"My EFIKA just needs 10 Watts and my Pegasos 1 needs 38 Watts" - Matthias Muench.

I have measured the total power consumption i.e. including the loss of the psu. My Efika with a Radeon 7000 and some Samsung hd takes 15W.

There are some values for comparision:

Extraordinary information, Zylesea. What shocked me was reading this: "ATX standby: 9 Watt". A regular power supply sucks in nine watts, only for listening to the power button?
Perhaps it's about motherboards: They are free to draw some current from the power supply, so it's not to blame the supply.

I haven't measured the actual currents taken by the motherboard to watch the ethernet port for wakup on LAN. The ATX power on button is not actively handeled by the motherboard, basically it's just a close circuit button of two conectors of the ATX plug. But I guess the energy for monitoring the ethernet is quite close to nothing.
As long a s the PSU is on line there is always some loss. That's why I have a switch button on my power outlet.

I liked the page about power consumption of the machines, but I really enjoyed the page with your multimedia frame. Excellent!! I wanted to do something like that as well, and I also have an Efika, so now I just need to get off my duff and do it.

Great job on the picture frame :-)

How did you get MOS on it, btw? Or, was that piped through the Peg and just displayed on the frame's screen?

I'd like to sell a few of these too, you know :-) Mine could be made with local, naturally fallen maple for extra eco-goodness.

I live in a beautiful, heavily forested area and wood for stuff like this is free for the taking because it falls down in December's wind storms every year.
