Hello, I am thinking of having on the 1st IDE channel the HD as master and a DVDR as slave, in order to avoind using an extra cable (I have a small tower case)
is there any perfomance impact if both devices are on the same channel?
    Thanks! :-) :-) :-)

There is a slight impact if both drives are active.
But unless your HD is faster than 40Mb/s, you'll notice nothing..
I have the same config and it works well.

THis is not a recommended solution. Please do yourself a favor and use the Secondary IDE for the DVD drive. Your HD will thank you for it.

More than slight if you are burning a DVD at high speed from that HD .. it'll most likely make a coaster (or atleast kick in whatever anti-coaster mechanism you have enabled, slowing down the burn and creating an irregular imprint)...

Dawm, im so happy that all my IDE2SCSI Convertors from my a4k are working fine and that the SCSI support in MOS works so good, that i dont have these problems.

They may have been expensive, but there are cheap ones too like the Yamaha (about 10 Eur on Ebay, with luck), which also do a great job, if you dont need lba 48
