Sounds like you're confusing availability with updates .. there are
very few companies (I can count them on one hand) that still deliver firmware updates beyond 1 year of the last sold hw revision (there are even some that don't deliver firmware updates
ever)...

Either way, releasing updates for "ancient" hw means (or should anyway) thouroughly testing it first, and if the userbase has dwindled to next-to-nothing, does it really make sense spending the time&money doing so?
