Peg II crash on boot issue

Hi folks. We have an issue with one of our Peg IIs (G4). On power-on and most resets it locks up at the 'MorphOS' splash screen. We've swapped Hard Disk, RAM, used a different video card, nothing seems to cure it. It w2as working better (i.e. doing it a lot less) until I added a Wireless card, but this problem has occurred before when no wireless card was installed.

MOS boots ok from the CD. If I do get it boot (CD or HDD) it is prone to locking upduring file copies etc. It feels like hardware to me but I don't know Pegs or MOS very well. Tried wiping the drive and re-installin MOS several times but to no avail.

    Any ideas?

Looks most helpful - will give it a shot tonight. Looks like a simple timing issue related to the CD-ROM not returning ready. I'll have to see if it applies here too. If not I'll swap it for one of the many other IDE CDs I have knocking about and see if that improves it any.

I know I, and another of the LAG guys (who actually owns the PegII, I have it on loan) have had limited success holding the RESET button for about 5-8 secs and letting the IDE settle before letting it boot. Perhaps this is a timing error in MOS?

FWIW I tried to use the Search feature onthe forums but it didn't work (got no results :( ). I hate bothering places like this with repeat posts, but can't really help it here! Nevermind.

No problem. I was reading this thread recently so I knew where should I search it.

I hope you'll get rid of your problems. Good luck!

Sorry about your troubles.. FYI its not a mac or PC wipping the HD and re-install doesnt really do much. My advice is to switch the configuration of your IDE devices, make sure you are using 80 wire ATA 133 cabling, you are using manual Master and Slave jumpers, and remove all PCI cards except video card and see what happens.
