    Hi all,

SimpleView, the (only) 100% machinecoded imageviewer, is in new version 1.4 downloadable from my homepage: http://www.angelfire.com/amiga/ex Features: Simpleview shows a picture on an own (24bit>) screen; no more cutt off pictures with the own BestModeID function that choose screens carefully ! Only when the biggest available (24bit>) screen isn't big enough to show the largest picture, it's cutt off. SimpleView_WB shows picture on the Ambient screen. Remember, the programms are started from the commandline in the Shell. I've configurated Directory Opus, a directory tool, to show a picture with SimpleView by doubleclicking a picture.

    Hi Druideck,

SimpleView 1.5 is out now; i found a picture that wasn't right
displayed on the right Screenmode. Fixed now ! I've installed
SimpleView in the webbrowser "AWeb APL Lite 3.5
    .08 beta (Apr 11 2006) MorphOS/PowerPC" which is a fast solution for
    displaying pictures seperately.

Shouldn't it be scaled down instead?

    Hi Krashan,

Yes, SimpleView must scale down the biggest pictures. I'am happy with SimpleView
because most pictures comes on a good screenmode. However, picture made with a
digital camera's are big. On the moment, i'am porting the search program
SearchStar from 68K to PowerPC machinecode. Altough, it's important that SimpleView
    gets it's scale function.

Funny, when I try this program nothing happens. And I really mean _nothing_. Snoopium doesn't even react when I run the executable. Does it need some obscure lib, or am I too lame to actually use this program? ;-)

    Hi killBill

Simpleview must be started from Shell, it realy do nothing if
there's no picture to view. Example "SimpleView DH1Pegasos Horse.jpg" must be typed
in the Shell. Offcoure the path SimpleView reside in too. Standard is that
the "Ram Disk" and where the picture is to view.

I want to point out that "using the best matching screenmode" doesn't really work too well on LCD screens, which have one "native" resolution, and all the others look bad as they're scaled up (except when resolution is exactly doubled, of course, like 640x512 => 1280x1024)

But anyway, I hope that users without a LCD monitor find it useful :-)

For LCD the best option is to use the "native" resolution, and scale (with filtering) or crop (with scrolling) pictures to that.

I never had Magellan, SCALOS or other destkop replacement. The latest Ambient is avaible from http://www.ambient-desktop.org/daily/. Remember that you must have a MUI 4 Alpha or Better. Latest MUI4 beta - http://www.stuntz.com/muibeta_20060423.lha. Install it together :D

It's much better than old standard version :)

On Ambient site you can find also toolbar icons and filetypes (these on page are old and may work not correct.) Look for filetypes (and icons ;) ) from friends on MZ :)
If you want i can send you my Filetypes. You must only adjust them to your preference :)

    Ambient Roxx! :D
