    I plan to buy an HP DAT on ebay... There's lot of HP SureStore DAT 24 scsi internal models (or HP SureStore T20) actually.

    Did anyone tested one HP DAT (even other reference) with Diavolo Backup ? Any advice would be appreciated !

    Thanks in advance !

    I use to do my backups with a DAT1 then DAT2 drive and Diavolo Backup.
    I can't remember the exact models. One of them was an HP one, the other not but Diavolo was able to read the drive properties and put good settings which worked every time.

    You are lucky it works. I'd say a good 75% of the 875 series doesnt work with MOS

    Some of the older tekram adpters have LSI / Symbios Logic / NCR chips that are compatible with MorphOS.

    cdfr:

    AFAIK LSI aquired Symbios Logic. And you are correct all he has to do is check the chip itself on the card - if its Symbios 7xx or 8xx it may work.. though as said previous 7xx are buggy with MOS driver and probably wont work at all.

    @big dan

    Well, whoever shipped to you didnt know how to file customs - if sent as a "gift" there is no VAT with a declared value of $5

    I have no problems using Diavolo Backup with HP-DAT and HP/Quantum
    LVD-Drive. My SCSI-Controller is a Tekram DC 390 U2W (symbios 895).

    If you want to do quick backups i'd suggest LVD-drives. They
    usually also store much more data on a single tape.
