    Dear all,

I had ordered a Peg II with 2 GB of RAM, and the retailer wrote to me on saturday to tell me that the machine didn't boot to MorphOS with that much memory (MorphOS showed a corrupt screen - it worked flawlessly under linux though).

Has anyone experienced this kind of problem before? What could be the cause?

IIRC MorphOS supports max 1.2GB or 1.5GB atm.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

Simple. Remove one module and try again.
    iPod, iBook, iMac,... iRobot?

I've heard that some gfx cards need to have small delay in startup-sequence, as they initialize too slowly.

I'm not sure but I think the system should work with 2G of memory, the rest is just ignored.

As it seems the 2GB shouldn't cause this problem. Try what Jupp3 suggested and add the command "wait 1" before "IPrefs" is loaded in the startup-sequence

AFAIK: Peg memory sector > 1,5 GB is mapped memory sector for Hardware.

MorphOS work here with 1,5 GB Memory. 68k and PPC Programme can used this Memory full (here: Picview with 1,4 GB Preview Thumbnails in Memory, and another programms started from this!).

BUT 2 Ram Modules (1024 + 512 MB) work be me (Peg2/G4) with rare random errors! (timing Memory /Smart Firmware init incorrect?)

Big /extended Ram test with this 2 Modules (1,5 GB) is ok, but copy xx GB from one HD to another whit 2 Ram Modules get rare random, but errors. Programms work with rare random, but errors.

With one RAM Module (1024 MB or 512 MB) same copy actions /programm execution its ok!

I got similar problem... With 2x256MB modules.

Memory tests seemed to work, but there were random read&write errors (for example corruption in avi viewed in mplayer, when the file is just fine... If I rewind back, the error isn't there anymore)

I just replaced one 256MB with similar (different brand) and it's worked just fine since then.
