    Hi all,

does anybody of you know if overlay does now work with the Radeon 8500 and MorphOS?

And are there any other limitations when using a 8500 compared to other Radeons?

Overlay seems to work fine on Radeon 8500 for me.
    I haven't seen any disadvantages either. I use a
    Radeon 7000 in a Peg2 and a Radeon 8500 in a
    Peg1 and I can't see much difference.

So, if you try playing videos by Frogger or MPlayer, or if you try to play e.g. MAME with overlay, everything is fine?

I ask because until MOS 1.4.2 there was no overlay support in MorphOS for Radeon 8500 afaik.

I use Radeon 8500LE on Peg1, everything seems to work great,
I use MPlayer and Frogger both with no problems.

    Hi pegasosuser,

I would not recommend to replace your 8500 by a 9250... it is slower for sure.

You could search the internet for more information about this. I did find some comparison between the 8500 and the 9000PRO which showed that the 9000PRO is slower than the 8500, and both the 9200 and the 9250 are slower than the 9000PRO. So probably the best choice for MorphOS currently is the 8500.

I have now the RADEON9250-256Mb (128Bit) and working fine.

I have the game BarkanoidII when I playing under RADEON8500-64Mb (64Bit) with dnetc running the game was slowly.

and now with the RADEON9250 the game with dnetc in ful speed!

    Hi everyone,

I now own a Radeon 8500, and I am glad that the new 3D drivers were released the same day I installed the graphics card.

All 2D operations are working great with it - including Overlay. A test with p96speed told me that the Radeon 8500 is quite a bit faster than my Voodoo4 I used before in most operations.

And every single Warp3D game I own (e.g. all Hyperion games) work incredibly great with it. In fact, I can now play these games on 1024x768 faster than with my Voodoo4 on 640x480. Cool!
