    Hi,
I read the statement, that you can send in your peg1, pay 200,- and
    you get a peg2 ...
    Is this still possible ?

Where's the page for that ?

Does this also work for a Peg1, which I bought second hand ?

.. are there extra charges ?

    bye

No. Not at the moment at least. The offer was alive for some time (I used it myself), but for several reasons (financial difficulties, people/dealers exploiting the offer in a bad way, etc) the offer was put on ice for unlimited time. At least AFAIK, it was a long time ago now.

No, at least it shouldn't (but of course I can not answer for Genesi's stance on this), for the same reasons as warranty isn't transferred for consumer products.

All purchases is really a deal/contract between the seller (A) and the buyer (B), and any terms of the deal (like warranty assurances, specifications about the purchased product, etc) are between those parts only. If later B sell the product to his friend (C), then this C guy has made *a new* deal/contract (be it written or not) with B, and A is now completely out of the picture since C and A has never had any relation whatsoever.

When the Pegasos 1 was first released, it was sold as a G3 computer with a G4 option. A G4 card for the Pegasos 1 *was* released, but b-plan had to do extensive testing and match making, since individual CPU's only worked in certain combinations of indivĂdual Articia's. Due to these technical problems, G4 on the Pegasos 1 was very difficult to achieve, and there was simply no way to release a general G4 card for general usage on all sold Pegasos 1's, and at the same time assure people that they would work 100% and be stable. So, in order to be fair towards anyone (of Genesi's *customers*, who bought the Pegasos 1 in the first place) really interested in the G4 CPU, they offered those people to either 1) trade in/upgrade to a Pegasos 1 G4 (motherboard+CPU in a tested combination), or 2) a Pegasos 2 G4 (motherboard+CPU), at the cost of the previously announce price of the G4 cards for Peg1's (if I remember correctly).

Few went for the first option (I think only a handful or so, at least I guess it was less than 20), and the second option worked fine for a while, but had then to be put on hold as mentioned above.

But anyway, under all circumstances, these offers were only targeted to the people who made a purchase deal of the specified "Pegasos 1 G3 with a G4 option" product directly with Genesi, back at that given time (which includes dealers of course). If you bought a Pegasos 1 now, from someone else, then you have made a deal with that seller instead.

But again, of course I can not answer for Genesi's stance on this. Maybe they will become generous enough in the future to consider this? Maybe they won't?

In any case, take my recommendation for this - buy a Pegasos 2 directly, instead of Pegasos 1. The Pegasos 2 is so much better, it is better supported, and I see no reason at all to buy a Pegasos 1, no matter the price.

Depends on what you mean with "extra charges"? I think I paid my part of the shipping (from me to GGS Data), but that was it, I think ...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

That is a pretty good summary.

Attention: if you are the ORIGINAL buyer and have proof of your original purchase, you will be given the chance to upgrade your Pegasos I G3 to a Pegasos II G4 shortly. The cost is 200 Euros (shipping not included) and you must return your old board and CPU card (shipping label to be provided).

    More details soon.

    R&B :-)

    @Genesi

i bought my second hand Peg1 from Relec and they told me the upgrade would be still possible for me when available. As i bought it second hand but from an official pegasos dealer it means i can upgrade it for 200 Euros too right ?

    Hi,
although I have the original bills of my Peg1, I'm not the buyer on first hand ...
I guess this means no upgrade for 200,-. To me this means no upgrade at all, because I was willing to invest 200,- to get rid of the firmware limitations and the trouble with PegXmac..

So my Cool Computing has to go on with my Peg1 .... and my completely fanless Qnx-machine (booting from flashdisk), I'm writing this confessions ;-)
    bye
