I've tried it both ways. If I format a 100MB ZIP disk
on the Peg, and put it in my A3000 (using either the
RDB or DOSDriver method), the Amiga claims that the
RDB is invalid, or that the disk is non-DOS. If I
format it on the A3000 (using DOSDriver file) and put
it in the Peg, it's a non-DOS disk. Both formats were:

format drive DZ0 name PegaZIP FFS NOICONS

What's the deal? Shouldn't this be easier than cake?
    Maybe easier than pie?

I realize that the ZIP format is "depreciated"
nowadays, but it would be rather annoying to have to
copy hundreds of ZIP disks to my HD and burn them onto
CD... assuming I could get MakeCD to work. And, yes, I
have Samba running amok all over my network, so I
could transfer things that way, but there's something
satisfying about pulling a disk from one machine and
putting it another, and just having things WORK.

    TIA

You could try formatting the ZIP disk with FAT, look on Aminet for FormatZIP. Before I had an ethernet card in my miggy I used to transfer files between my A4000 and pc with ZIP disks formatted on my pc. With fat95 you could read the zip disk on your Amiga and Pegasos.

It is running here without any Problems.
Zip 100 Fat formattet or Amiga format.
    Zip 250 only Fat formatted.
I can read this disks on both Systems My Peg or on my Amiga 3000.
But it was a long way to get this running, testing a lot of
    dosdrivers.

Can you post your DOSDriver file somewhere? I'd love to compare it to
mine and see what's different. Or email it to me or something.

I know I could use FAT, although I haven't tried it other than
Amiga<-->Amiga. I'd just like to figure this out.

    TIA

    MrZoon,

Treat your Zip disk like a hard drive and partition it with HDToolbox or SCSIConfig (just give it one partition). Then, format it and it should work on both machines.

    It worked for me.
