    Hi there!

A friend of mine has a PC, Amiga and a Pegasos and because of little space in his room, he need a switch to use these computers with single mouse, keyboard and monitor. Amiga and PC has no troubles with this, but the mouse of the Pegasos (PS2) does not seam to reset itself and so it does not work after the switching back to MorphOS. PC and Linux works fine. Is there any workaround for this?

    Thanks and bye, MarK.

As a matter of fact, I just bought a 4 way electronic monitor/keyboard/mouse switch for my computers. It's an "Aten CS-914" and it works perfectly. The image quality is absolutely great and it supports up to 1920 x 1440 in resolution. All cables are included! I can really recommend this one! :-)

I use this one successfully with two of my Pegs, as well as two PC's. No problems at all. Either you press a button on the switch itself, or you simply press (and releases) ctrl+shift+alt, then a number between 1-4, and then hit enter, and voilá! :-)

Electronic switches (like the one I bought) don't cut off keyboard and mouse to the computers, but instead keep the signal alive. So you won't risc having to restart or such (and you don't have to have the computer "selected" when you turn it on). This however could be the issue with cheap, *mechanical* switches though, and this is probably the case for your friend.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Well, the friend, what was MarK talking about is me. I have asked him, for some idea how fix mouse freze after "unplug&plug" PS2 mouse to Pegasos on MorphOS. So I will try to explain my problem. I have five computers, and litle room for it, so I need somethin like that switch. Well, I have found 8:1 PC electronical switches in some shops, but price was about 306,- Euros, soo this was no choice for me. :-?
Finaly I have bought "cheap" 6:1 manual mechanical switch and it works relative fine. Some picture disortions are gone now with special shielded cables. But there is still one problem.

I`m using 1 Work PC (Win), 1 PC Router (Linux), Pegasos (MorphOS or Linux), 1 Work Amiga and 1 Infochannel broadcast Amiga (both AmigaOS).

All of these computers works fine with that "cheap" solution except Pegy on MorphOS.

When I switch back to Pegasos with MorphOS, the mouse pointer freze with RMB hold down and only what I can is reboot it. When I am using Peg on Linux there isn`t problem with switching back, so it is not hardware problem.

Now my question. Is there any chance to solve that problem? Like SW reseting input.device or so? It is only MorphOS problem.

By the way, sometimes when i switch back to MorphOS it will not freze, but only sometimes.

I know, that rebooting MorphOS is not so big time lose ;-), but it is bother to do that up to 80 times per day.

I can`t use USB mouse, because Amiga will not work with.

Thanx a lot for your sugestions and help!

I have seen some text, that in MorphOS is all possible, so why not PS2 mouse recovery? ;-)

    Regards,

    Derrik

    @ Derrik

    What about something like this?

Maybe you could plug the KVM switch into one of the ends of the above cable and attach a cheapo/spare ps2 mouse to the other and attach it to the PS/2 port on the pegasos. Then just hide the cheapo mouse away, when you switch away from the peg there will be still a mouse present as far as the peg is concerned.

Don't know if it would work, just an idea.

Yeah, it looks like that this way will work, but question is, that
Pegasos output power will be enought to one optical mouse and one
old destroyed ball mouse torso (my previous mouse, but it get me angry
so it is total death now :o). I will try it, so if it will be ok, it
can be put into switch directly to port inside switch :-p

    Nice idea.

But software reset will be best solution I thing ;-)
