Take a look at THIS PDF talking about the use of a Pegasos running Debian and MySQL over at Sony Europe. The A1 guys over at Amigaworld.net are talking about getting the A1 into more big companys now since Genesi decided to raise the price on the G3. I dont think as long as the A1 lacks DMA it ever has a chance to do what the Pegasos is now doing. WAY TO GO GENESI!!

Oh and the PDF isnt in english, but you can use a translation site on it like I did to get the idea of it.

The English version will be there in a few days (maybe Monday).

As for the pricing we could make this comparison:

    AmigaOne G4-XE 933 MHz = 899.90 EUR ( 321.06 EUR more than the Pegasos II )
    µ-A1-C G3 750FX 800MHz +256MB + Radeon 7000 onboard = 699.99 EUR
    µ-A1-I G3 750GX 800MHz +256MB + Radeon 7000 onboard = 828.90 EUR

The Pegasos II G3 still looks good in comparison. Simply, the price of the Pegasos II G3 went up! Before we made a small amount of money when we sold it now we will make more when we sell it. There are some more important reasons for doing this that we cannot discuss in public. There are other changes coming. Eventually, everything will be well understood.

At the moment, we are more interested in promoting the G4 now.

    R&B :-)

    From Page 3/Seite 3

    .....

Both MySQL- Server are running GNU-Debian Linux 3.0. For the external server a reliable PowerPC Pegasos server from Genesi is used.

    .....

    Nothing more and nothing less.

    :-?

Did anyone claim different? Genesi is named as a certified MySQL partner, and here is an example of the fruits of that! This is really great news IMHO! :-)

    @ BBRV

Has this something to do with the Pilot programmes, or is this something on top of that?

The tone in that aw.net is a bit funny.. like it's a bad thing or not a thing worth mentioning at all.

I bet my left nut that if it was an A1 running as a server, it would have been praised above clouds.

They just hate the fact that the A1 isnt being taken more serious out of the OF4 scene. Why would it though? Its based on old hardware, it cant do DMA with Linux, and its several hundred more then a Pegasos. Why pay more for less?

Of course, that's what I read as well. It is good to see Pegasos being used with mySQL.

And we know where its being used! :-D

No, Targhan wrote something about a translation for a news item. I translated the "intresting" part that's it. :-D

The good folks over at AW.net have totaly tossed out the idea that Sony using the PEgasos is any news at all. Its now decided that someone brought it in to show the boss and it besing used now. You have to love them guys for being so loyal to that machine they call a computer.
