So, I won a Pegasos 1 together with 128MB RAM at the PUSH 2004 party, which was organized by GGS-Data.

I had everything I needed to get the machine to run, except for a cabinet. Eager to get it up and running, I stole the ATX PSU from my A1200, and built it on the table.

But as this was no solution, I decided I needed some case for it, when I shortly after spotted a suitable cardboard box.

I spent about an hour total on figuring out how I wanted to fit everything in there, and then cutting holes in the box for the PSU, the motherboard connectors and the graphics card backplate, and then actually making everything fit.

Pictures of the result can be seen here.

As there is still plenty of free space in there, I plan on building it into a small wooden box instead. This way I should be able to build it even smaller.

The top side is about the size of an A4 paper, and the height of the box is around 2/5th the height of an A4 paper. Sorry, couldn't find a ruler :)

Well, obviously it is not running when I'm not around, so the danger is quite limited :P

i've seen some fairly wierd handmade boxes on TechTV, so, this isn't anything really strange.
but, try using a ruler with the next container. makes things better all around.

    :-D

Is that the first Pegasos portable?

You just pick it up close the lid across and go!

He still needs to stick an lcd screen to the lid to make it self efficient and trans-portable ;-)

    Plastics. :-D

Dude, put the thing into some plexiglass and epoxy glue.
Might cost $7-10 (USD), but would look better and be
much safer. Is the power supply sitting on the motherboard?

But I've seen companies in Japan that sell cardboard cases for
more than metal ones, so it must be safe.......do you smell something? ;-)

    Best wishes

bigfoot, make sure to attach grounding wires to the mobo, PSU, HDD etc. I wouldn't want to arrange the next PUSH in a danish hospital.
Cool design though. You should enforce the internals somehow so that everything is sure to stay in it's place so you can carry the box around, and give it a paintjob. :)

I don't know about swedish power supplies, but in the rest of the world, all the connectors coming from the power supply have two or more ground wires ;)

And it is temporary. As I said I want to make a wooden box instead, and that would indeed get painted :)

Haha, not a bad idea :)

But I think an LCD monitor the size of an A4 paper (or even smaller when I get around to doing the next case) would be a tad too small for me :)

Dear Mark, once again your engineering skills have impressed us deeply. We would like to contract you to build a revision to this incredibly thoughtful design.

Can you put one in HERE?!?!

P.S. Gunne, isn't that the Tyra case?! :-)
