You can buy a 2.0 card but you can't use it a7 2.0Hispeed because Poseidon USB stack still doesn't support it.

Sure poseidon supports it. The Elbox users are doing it just fine. I would think all it takes is a proper driver for the card like arak attack.

AH! just the topic I needed to find! :-D

the question: 'which is the best PCI card to get' wasn't really answered. At some point I was told NEC is good. ???

I am not familiar with PPC hardware, so talk slowly, please. :-P

Is there an issue with a PCI USB card working with a Pre-Aril Peg 1???
I have the latest posidon and ArabAttack (or whatever it's called).
well, I haven't installed AA, i just downloaded the file.

NAturally, I have no idea where to connect such a card if it is possible to use it, so any advice would be greeted with wild jumping and yelling with glee!

    @Cecilia

You must first lose the idea about being "familiar with PPC hardware." This is strictly software support that is going to be a concern. So, what works best on MorphOS? What works best for the flavor of LinuxPPC you are (or are not) running? Those should be the questions!

it just happens to be a fact.
When I bought my Amiga 2000, I wasn't familiar with that hardware either, but I ended up installing memory cards, accelerators, hard drives, gfx cards, etc, etc.

and there isn't linux on this system. and I'm not messing with the install.

:-) (grins) No, I mean that the design of the Pegasos is that for users who add items to their system, it should use commonly available PC hardware. I was just being nitpicky :-P Maybe I should be ignored

Anyway, I would like to find what needs to happen to get USB 2.0 here as well!

Maybe Ron Van Herk from Computer City has some data on USB 2.0 working or no. Or some of his customers that got the free USB 2 cards? The theory was Arak Attack MIGHT work. I actually have a USB 2 card coming in and will test when I have time in the next 2-3 weeks..

on the contrary! that is a very important point and needs to be emphasized.

being able to use any ol' "commonly available PC hardware" is something Users may not really know. And ,as i seem to be speaking for the User (not developer or computer nerd), it's good to know that all i have to do is pick a good card. the end.

altho, i'd like to know what others have been able to do. thanks, dave. :-D

No problem Cecilia! Sometimes it can be difficult for any of us to remember that it's usually a matter of drivers. I do not know how to compare some things (usb and scsi cards) to one another as far as early-in-bootstrap support would be.

Anyway, I would love to hear from Ron, or his customers about ArakAttack and the USB 2.0 implimentation.

my best advice would be to get a PCI card based on VIA VT6202 chipset...

this board will work with the MorphOS UHCI driver (the same one as onboard USB), and will work fine in USB2.0 mode when an EHCI driver will be available or if you install arack Attack
