    Hi there!

I just bought a switch box, which switches the same monitor, keyboard and mouse for 4 computers, including my Pegasos I.

The only problem is that when I switch it back to my Pegasos I, the mouse won't work anymore and sometimes some keys on the keyboard (like, most of the time, I can't do LAmiga+M to multitask).

Could there be any issues with the way PS/2 inputs are managed from within MorphOS or from the Firmware?

I think (not sure though) that when I once used X-Window under Linux PPC, the same thing was happening for the mouse.

    Thanks,
    Fred

    No, it's a TechCraft.

I sold my previous switch box as I thought it was problematic (it was almost 10 years old), but it's doing the same with this brand new one.

    You have the same problem?

I've had the same issue when dealing with X and Windows boxes on the same switch box. I have my Peg hooked up to one too but I use separate mice for the Windows and Pegasos machines.

I have a Q-Tec KVM Switch and it works perfectly on my PegII. The only problem is that if I turn on the Peg but the switch is switched to the other computer (an x86) the Pegasos doesn't boot because can't find the keyboard or the mouse (I guess it believes they are not connected). However as soon I come back to Pegasos I see the OpenFirmware that starts to boot.

You see the idea of having a switch box is not having to disconnect/reconnect any cables manually! So yes, I had also tried what you said, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

The issue is, IMO, with the Pegasos, as even if you don't have a swith box and disconnect and then reconnect the mouse, you can't use it anymore (at least, with my Pegasos I).

Could anybody try that with Pegasos I & II please? If it's with Pegasos I, does it have the April fix?

    Thanks,
    Fred

I've just tried it for you on my Pegasos II: It has the same problem, after recconecting the mouse stops working. But the keyboard works correctly after it was disconnected (and ofcoz then reconnected :))), too.

It's IMHO not a horrible problem, but in special cases it would be very annoying... I think the problem is in the firmware...

    @ GK_LKA

Well, as you say it's far from "horrible", but it is especially & absolutely ultra-annoying !!

With my switch box, whenever I absolutely need to go to my linux server's screen (to do things I can't using AmTelNet), I'm doomed to use the keyboard-equivalent key combinations to move the mouse pointer when I switch it back to the Pegasos, until I reboot it.

Would a patch of a kind of mouse or PS/2 reset tiny software could be coded to temporarly fix the issue? as I guess it's not a priority for MorphOS dudes!

    Thanks,
    Fred

I agree with GK_LKA. I think it's a OF problem too. We should ask bplan to fix it if possible.

I have not had problems with an iview 2-port kvm switch. I am kind of surprised, even, because I usually find kvms to be problematic.

You have to buy a switch keeping the PS/2 ports charged when you switch to other computers.
If your switch dont charge your PS/2 ports when you switch to another computer or boot your PEG, Your pegasos will belive there is no mouse connected.

Switches keeping ports charged are more expenseive, but it's more safty for your computer.

Most of manual switches dont charge ports.
