ppc-grinch - In my iMac A1145 there is also the X600 XT Radeon GFX chip, and that is what basically controls the screen imagery on my MorphOS setup.
So, the X600 chipset is supported for MorphOS, I just don't know if there is some slight variation required to make it work in the 17" A1144 model - if it does in fact have an alternative GFX chip of the X600 Pro - as you have named it, compared to the A1145 which has the X600 XT, and the A1145 was the first iMac of this model range that MorphOS supported.
It was stated that the A1144 was supported a while back, but I don't own one, though presumably someone in the MOS Dev. Team does own one, or it would not have been possible to ensure it worked correctly to be able to announce that!
I understand you are frustrated with the A1144, I would be too, so I can understand your decision, unless someone from the "Team" can offer you some support with your iMac?
