In previous posts to this thread I said "glitches may occur once GPU temperature is at least 59 degrees Celsius" and "GPU sitting at 59 C, the catastrophic glitches returned after about 15 minutes, unprompted". The program iStats reports temperatures for a Mac's internals, and it reports that after the reboot needed after installing Mac OS X Leopard, the CPU temp sat at 59 degrees C, the GPU sat at 78 degrees C, and the Northbridge sat at 83 degrees C. Temps in MorphOS reports temperatures for the CPU, GPU, and Northbridge, and the numbers seen here are similar, . . .

My 20" iMac usually has the GPU quite stable about 59-60C, the Northbridge at 71C (Ambient Northbridge 61C), CPU 67C, but I have recently cleaned out all the fans and exit ports from within my system, following a capacitor failure (x3) in my A1145, but it is back working now. As well as that we are experiencing fairly warm summer temperatures as well in the UK-GB ATM, and the incoming air temperature is about 32C, the HDD is 44C, and the Optical drive is reported at 40C.

If you have not cleaned out your fans and ports since acquiring the iMac I can recommend that you do that, as that may have a bearing on what I would consider to be your higher than normal hardware temperatures, which may impact the GFX artefacts you are encountering.

Accessing the fans, to be able to clean them fully (out of the iMac, and disassemble (unclip) them into two parts - to fully clean the blades and inner airflow areas of the fans) in the A1145 requires virtually stripping it back to the "bare-bones", including removal of the logicboard and other ancillary parts!

It is obviously just a suggestion, if you are up to such hardware cleaning, and you haven't cleaned inside your iMac system already?

I know that the MOS Dev. Team stated that both iSight iMac G5s were supported previously, so I can only presume that someone (or sometwo) in the Team have such hardware to be able to make such a claim to support the hardware!
