I have a G5 power Mac and I want to install Morphos on it
unfortunately the current video card in the machine is an nVidia 6600 and I want to change to a Radeon card but I don't know what card to buy?
found several video cards on Ebay, but unfortunately the MorphOS compatibility list says that all of them do not support Warp 3D! I would like to play older Amiga games that use Warp3D! If I buy a video card that does not support Warp3D, will I not be able to run Warp3D games?

I don't know how true it is that if I put a PC video card in the MacProG5 it should work under MorphOS

As for Wipeout - the "non-2075" (the first part of series) works on MorphOS without any need for Warp3D. You can find the port here.

Actually I only found one pci-e card, an ATI RADEON X1300PRO 256MB!
Then I should buy it quickly before someone else doesI
think the x 1950 is a stronger card but I don't think there will be any problems with this either
I don't really need a boot screen because I will only be installing MorphOS on the machine and there will be no other system on it that would require a boot screen

Doesn't Wazp3D support hardware rendering via TinyGL (#12)?

If you want Warp3D now and in HW a Powermac G4 with Radeon9000 is the best option.

For everything else a G5 PCIe with a PC Radeon is the way to go.
Look at the long list, look at what is supported with the current TinyGL beta and what is supposed to be supported later on.

I would go for something RadeonHDxxxx with atleast 1 moden port (HDMI DisplayPort).

I used to have a power Amiga with a Mediator card and I didn't have these problems with it. I already regret selling it :( It would be worth a fortune now and I wouldn't even think of parting with it now.

Slow is relative as G4s go from 0.45 to 1.8GHz and even some ultrarare 2.0.

For GFX anything that isn’t a 9000 will be slow for sure.

The new TinyGL does/should provide 3D support for all these cards, just no legacy W3D. Latest beta also omitted t3D for R600 but that should be fixed in 2 more weeks…..

Yes. There was a TinyGL beta version with 3D support for TeraScale2 GPUs (R8xx/R9xx minus RV970), but an update removed this support. It's supposed to return, together with TeraScale1 (R6xx/R7xx) support, though.

...except Radeon HD cards with TeraScale3 (HD69xx) or GCN1/GCN2 (HD77xx-HD79xx, HD85xx-HD89xx) GPU, which are not even supported in 2D (at least officially (#32)).

Yes, but 2D-only and no overlay for now.

The X1300 is 3D-supported right now, the Radeon HD cards somewhen in the future. The HD4350 is 2D-supported with hardware overlay, the HD7570 without.
