Mac Mini - Morphos 3.11 - monitor resolution getting "lost"

    Hi all,

I have recently setup a MacMini (with radeon HD9200 inside), connected to an HP Z24nq 2560x1440 via DVI.
That monitor works fine with my Intel Mac Pro (display port), and boot fine on MacOSX on that MacMini.

Unfortunately, as soon as I go into MorphOS, I get into a black screen right after the grey flash.
I have to reboot and hold the CTRL key to force the 1024x768 mode to get past that black screen.

Once I have booted in 1024x768, I can edit the default mode in Prefs/screens and pump it up to 720p, or even 1080p with no problem - the screen flicks to that new mode happily.
But as soon as I save and reboot, screen goes black again - if not right away, a couple of reboots later - seems pretty random.

As mentioned in other (old) posts, I deleted all the monitors in prefs/presets After a reboot the Hp24 monitor specs get picked up and it appears in presets/monitors as the only file there.
But I still get the black screen after the odd reboot or switch on/off.

Very frustrating! 1024x768 is just the only mode that seems to survive but it's plain ugly on my big screen.
Any idea? Bad cable? Sensitive monitor? Could MorphOS try to boot in 1440p and run out of VRAM?
    Help!

    Cheers,
    JBB

    a) its a Radeon9200, a HD9200 would be a whole different class of GFX-card (but it doesn't exist)

    b) the 9200 has only single link DVI maxing out at 1920x1200@60Hz, anything above can only be achieved by reducing the refresh rate, something either can't do, or won't do without manual fiddling

    Thanks for that...

For now I settled it at a mediocre 1800x1012 @ 50Hz: highest I could reach by increasing resolution manually pixel by pixel while staying under a certain pixelclock. Beyond that, screen would suddenly fail to sync and display.
Anything else above that (even 1080p) would not display or get remembered after a reboot.
Weird! Is it the monitor being picky in DVI? (and I have two of those HP 24", both behave the same), or the MacMini (32MB VRAM) GPU/DVI out being limited to what it can push out?
