The touch pad is connected to the hardware, by connectors under the keyboard, that are not too difficult to access, with the correct sized small screwdrivers (Philips & probably Torx). Which model PB are we talking about here?
I don't think there's a way to de-activate it within the settings as such, so a physical disconnection would be required.
