The HDD cradles are the same, but the cables are different

The A1138 part numbers are: 821-0391-A / 632-0356-A printed on the cable
The A1106 part numbers are: 821-0350-A / 821-0287-A printed on the cable

So, if you have the incorrect cable in the PowerBook, you might get unexpected results.

I also have a relatively cheap NewerTech NWTBATCAPL15AL dedicated PowerBook battery charger, still for sale on that worldwide well known website for all consumer goods old and new. It's a specific PowerBook battery charger, this model ONLY being compatible for 15" models, there are other models, including one for 17" PowerBook AL models, much rarer. This allows me to charge up to 2 batteries in 2 battery trays, but they are charged one after the other. So, while I'm using another battery there will be 2 more ready when they've finished their charging processes. The charger also does a diagnostic/discharge check/re-charge cycle so you should get the best battery life out of any PowerBook battery.
