    Hi.

In my cellar I found a Radeon HD 3850. In the MorphOS 3.10 release notes it is mentioned as supported.
But I can't remember where that card came from. It's not impossible it was in a PC before.
Does it need some Mac firmware to work with MorphOS?

    a. is it AGP or PCIe card?
    b. are you planning to use it in PowerMac?

If it's AGP and you're going to put it in a G5 PowerMac then theoretically it should work with MorphOS, even if it's got no Apple ROM - and I can assure you it's got PC ROM, because there simply weren't any Apple AGP OEM Radeon HD 3850's out there (no Open Firmware, no OSX and no Apple boot menu though). But if it will work - that's another question (depends on your luck, really). I'd give it a shot nevertheless.

    The AGP variants?
What other variants are there? PCIe is not supported at all (in the form of PowerMac 11.2).

MorphOS also supports systems/boards with PCIe slots (Sam460 aka AmigaOne 500 since MorphOS 3.8, Cyrus Plus aka AmigaOne X5000 since MorphOS 3.10). Furthermore, some of the supported Radeon HD cards also exist as PCI version, which are supported apparently, see:

Just as a heads up, your Radeon HD 3850 AGP (assuming it's an AGP card) might work with the upcoming MorphOS 3.11 release. But as Koszer says, it has some drawbacks, such as not being able to access the machine's firmware.

Screenshot from my G5 as it is currently configured - but do note that this is the development version of MorphOS and using this card isn't possible with the MorphOS 3.10 release.
