Yes and no, RadeonHDs don't work out of the box in PowerMac11,2. Proper init code needs to be written/fixed. So it's not the case: cards works in Sa,460, it will work in G5 PCIe.

btw. I'll have current version of MorphOS on G5 PCIe with RadeonHD card during

for what i test on linuxppc G5 quad works 4xxx,5xxx,6xxx and 7xxx series the important is have the boards on the 8x slot.

Yesterday i had been test the Asus R7 250 2GB ddr5 on Quad G5 and i can confirm it is work under linux in Fbdev mode ... because radeonSI is not working on linuxPPC because endianess.

GCN Gen1 compatibility doesn't surprise me.
    How about Gen2 like an R7 260X?

Radeon SI (or newer) doesn't work properly on (ppc) PowerPC (It's a known issue, and said to take several man months to rectify by experienced Mesa developers, ie. not going to be fixed), PPC64le does not have this issue of course...

The fastest Radeon cards you can run on (ppc) PowerPC is the northern islands chipset- the Radeon HD 6xxx range.

Since the poster has stated that he managed to get a Southern Islands GPU based card to work it appears to be only a software issue.
I'm not sure all of us are concerned about Linux capabilities.

I primarily am concerned about whether or not it is hardware compatible.

Note that there is no hardware issue there. For example, Hans de Ruiter's W3D Nova *requires* Southern Islands cards on PowerPC.

Yes no issue on Be hardware newer or oldest for what i test.
Radeon 7xxx series and R7 250 works but only in fbdev mode because glamor crash when open RadeonSi in mesa, this happen on all BE machine (sam460,X5000,X1000,G5 Quad)
Im pretty sure all the gpus 1.1 pcie compatible will work on G5 Quad Radeon and Nvidia,
the gap on BE is only in software (drivers endianess).
If one day mos will run on Quad im sure will use the radeonhd gpus like on X5000 without issue or even better ;-)

Actually, that should be "one day hopefully WE will be able to run MorphOS on PCIe G5s", because the developers already can. 😋
