Sometimes crackling audio on sam460 when using mplayer or OW

    Hi all,

I have a weird problem with my sam460EX and morphos (registered) when I'm using mplayer or watching a youtube video (OWB). Sometimes (or actually most of the time) when playback is interrupted by pausing the video, or with OWB when for example skipping an ad (or pausing the video), I get crackling audio when playback is resumed. I'm using the onboard audio.

The weird thing is, this only happens with mplayer, or OWB's HTML5 youtube player.
Playing MP3, CD audio, or shoutcast gives me no problems at all. Also with games, EUAE etc. all is fine.

With OS4 (although I don't use that a lot since I installed Morphos) everything is fine.

At first I thought it was because of wrong settings in AHI, but I booted from the Morphos 3.9 CD, and played a video with mplayer and played a youtube video with OWB, and the problem is the same (crackling audio when playback is interrupted).

At this point, I don't know if it's a sound driver problem or a bug in AHI or something else.

Can someone from the development team please help me ?

I'm glad to say I found a workaround for this problem.

First I run AmigaAmp, and keep it running in the background without playing music.
Then I can watch youtube with OWB (or use mplayer to watch a video) without any audio problems when pausing and resuming the video.

I don't know why I have to do this, but it works so I'm happy.

I don't remember if something like this ever happened here. Go to settings and increase default Anti-click time or/and change mode to a diff one. If you are there you can also decrase amount of channels, should help in quality.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I already decreased the number of channels. That didn't help.
Also I tried increasing the anti-click time, but that also didn't help.

I tried to change every possible setting that is available, but nothing works.
Only if I use the workaround with AmigaAmp I have no problems at all with mplayer or OWB's youtube html5 player.

Right now, AHI music unit is set to unit 0, and the ahi music unit 0-3 are set to the sam's onboard audio.
AmigaAmp is set to use unit 0.

Anyway, it works now. It would be nice if there was a more "clean" solution, but it's better then no fix at all.

Unit 0 sucks. In general AHI too :).
