How can OS4 support for them have been skipped when OS4-centric hardware was shipped with them? R700-based cards are supported by OS4 (except 3D, of course).

45...50 EUR (= 48...53 USD), new, various vendorsExactly, 3D, as in everyone that bought an X1000 (which included a 4650) had to upgrade their video cards in order to get one with an available 3D driver (and then they had to pay for the driver).
Funny the way those guys in that community work, isn't it?
I'm pretty sure that once I pay for MorphOS on an X5000, all future upgrades (including, of course, the video drivers) will be free.
BTW - That second listing isn't half bad, even with shipping.
I did manage to find a supplier with better prices in the US, but not that low.
