Problems with clock and benchmark timing on sam460ex.

    Hi all,

I have a weird problem with my sam460 and morphos (registered).

The clock loses about 5 seconds per minute under morphos.
Also, the benchmark times that some programs report are wrong.

For example, the lame benchmark (aksack.wav) takes 34 seconds under morphos, but lame reports that it takes 31 seconds (I timed it with my stopwatch).

Another example, the blender test (test.blend) takes 8 minutes and 47 seconds, but blender reports that it takes 7 minutes and 54 seconds.

I know there is nothing wrong with the hardware (or clock battery), because with OS4 I have no such problems (I hate to say that!).

Anyone of the developer-team knows what's going on ?

Edit: I know it's only a problem on my sam460. Everything is fine on my powerbook.

    Thanks in advance !

It sounds like MorphOS detected the speed of your Sam460 incorrectly. Does the speed shown in showconfig and/or system monitor/system details show the correct speed /bus clock for your Board ?

No. My sam runs at 1115 Mhz but, showconfig says it runs at 1265 Mhz.
The boot screen also says it runs at 1265 Mhz.

1265 MHz is indeed wrong and that is what causes your timing/clock issues. There have been some Sam460 boards which use a different onboard reference clock, namely 50Mhz instead of 55Mhz. The 3.9 boot.img assumes a 55MHz clock which causes the off by factor 1.1 result.

Thanks for your answer. One question though: is this fixed in morphos 3.10 :) ?

Edit: Acube has a nice utility to check the reference clock (checkbaseclock). It's included with the new version of uboot. I just executed this utility again, and indeed it says my sam has a 50 Mhz. clock.

    Hi all,
This problem still exists with morphos 3.12. Will this be fixed in a future update, or should I give up hope.
It sure would be nice if it would be fixed, because I then can reliably run some benchmarks (radeon, blender, lame etc).
