For me one much important benefit - Talos II lite and Blackbird is limited to two PCIe slots - x16 and x8. All CPU lanes used here, so you cannot have more. If you put NVMe to x8 slot, you have no space for additional expansion.
With full Talos II I have option in future purchase second CPU, and utilize other slots: 2xPCIe x16, 1xPCIe x8 + 1 OcuLink x4.
If I buy expensive workstation, I want in future add many modern components.
